Never heard of Blind Melon?!
You've been missing out! Blind Melon are a band. They are an actual band who write there own stuff, no relying on pretty pop jangles written by some moron purely to make money. They are one of the few surviving musicians doing it for themselves. I'm not saying that it's wrong for people to create music on the back of sexuality, greed and fame searching; prostitution has and will always be the quickest way to make a name. I am purely saying that they ARE NOT one of those bands. They make music because its what they were born to do. They are one of the few gifted artists hidden beneath piles of pop drivel on the billboard charts. They create art so we can experience something bigger than ourselves. They create what the muiscally disabled person can't; magick. Sure you can bop away to (insert flavour of the month here), but as they Cat in the Hat says "are the really saying anything?" "Hmmm, no, not really!". So, If you want to move beyond the ordinary. If you wish to seek something more evolved than the norm, now is the time to discover Blind Melon.

Much more to it than just the "Bee Girl" song!
I created this page in the hope that melon fans from all around the world would come together to promote Blind Melon. For me, there was always this sad feeling niggling at me whenever I listened to Blind Melon. I guess partly because the music always had a deep sentimental connection with me and also because, following Shannons death, the band became no more. With the reformation of Blind Melon it feels like a missing piece of the magick puzzle has been placed back into the arena. It's really refreshing to know that all the past Blind Melon brilliance is once again being played live to thousands of people. To be able to hear those feelings created into song being vibrated right there in front of and with you is truly one of lifes joys and blessings.
There are not many singers that can harness, it seems their very essence into voice and express it, but Shannon was certainly one of those people. If you were aligned for him to touch you; he did and he did it deep. I guess thats why so many people were bothered that the band would reform with someone else singing the songs that Shannon had, it was personal. If you're a melon fan, when you hear him sing its like some sacred ancient melody that has nowhere to go but within you. Its like he is singing your very own song, touching you somewhere from the past. I dont know if im being a bit too drippy. but personally that is just the way his voice mixed with those sounds have always touched me. I guess it's possible for Blind Melon to of not touched you like that and if thats the case then I guess all you have to go on is that they are brilliant at their crafts and create very very inspired music. One can not deny their talent at what they do.
But what began as a magickal journey of creation was sadly cut short in its infancy. Another musician, another son, another father got lost in earthly temptations. Its happened before and it will happen again. For all those who are severly bothered by the loss of this talented individual, I would just like to make mention of all the other lost souls that have left this world in similar circumstances, but who did not leave behind such magick that Shannon did. If you are of the mindset of what a waste it is for such a creative indiviual to no longer be here, I would like you to spare a thought for other people, who couldnt sing, who couldnt paint, who couldnt write, who never created anything for their family to embrace once they left. Those who come into this world and NEVER had the opportunity to embrace the wonder of life, to see its beauty and be able to express it. There are many people who are born into poverty, born into abuse, born into wonderful families and for whatever reason are blocked from the begining. Those that came in and got lost in hell straight away. To me, that is a greater tragedy. (Just a thought.)
Anyway, back to my point, for many Melon fans hearing of the band reforming it became quite personal. Some were clearly for it and others, for many varied reasons, felt it was wrong to carry on the band using the name Blind Melon. But for me; it seemed just perfect. The boys had moved on created some awesome music under different names and when the time was right for all involved, the universe presented an opportunity to carry on the melon brilliance with Travis Warren. The anticipation and wonder of new growth had begun.
