Ode to a Radiographer
Can you guess just who we are?
Beware, this stuff may leave a scar,
When you roll right out your bed
And accidently crack your head,
You think you're dying and make a fuss
Even though you came to us by bus
When you've waited four hours in A&E,
You finally come around to me
We work a lot of long hard shifts
And deal with patients that are miffed
They moan and groan and cry and squeal
We get them through their tough "ordeal"
We're those X-ray people behind the glass
Call us nurses and we'll kick your ass!
You wouldn't believe the things we've seen
Like hard-ons showing up on screen
Or femurs shattered in three places
And people that insert things in strange places
This must be why people specialise
So they don't have to see these strange wee guys
They go and hide in MRI
So they dont even have to try
Or go to mammos, what a sweet deal
They spend all day just coppin a feel!
Thats not that good, dont be surprised
Cos they're boobs are resting on their thighs
Maybe CT is a better role
Just send scared people through a hole
Don't matter who, ned or toff
We'll radiate your giblets off
Inject you with some good contrast
Oh crap, those allergies flare up fast!
Maybe its safer in angios
Where you wear scrubs instead of clothes
You wear an apron made of lead
And spin a tube round patients heads
But after 2 days of angios
You cant take any more of those
After all that its plain to see
We're better off in A&E
Where four skull fractures come at one time
And then you get three trauma spines
Will we cope when this occurs?
Of course, we're radiographers!
