NOTHING BUT CHANGE on CD BABY
Known for a unique angelic voice that exudes sensuality, Pittsburgh native Melodee Lynn is a down-to-earth sweetheart with a sprinkle of sass. As an emotive singer-songwriter, Melodee’s lyrics reveal the heart on her sleeve, while her performances expose a lively passion and an infectious energy. Comparisons to artists as diverse as Tori Amos and Madonna have come from her fresh sound, with its dance/electronica and indie folk inspiration. In the February 2006 publication of Emergence Young Adult Ministry, the Publisher celebrated Melodee’s performance of songs on her debut CD stating, “Everyone in the club stood there mesmerized.â€
In January 2006, Melodee launched her debut album titled, Nothing But Change, an alternative pop CD produced by the acclaimed team of Richard Swift and Elijah Thomson. All ten songs on the album are written with core values, yet the intense lyrics permeate every line conveying the depth and experience of adult contemporary music. Melodee admits, “Nothing but change has been the theme of my life over the past few years. Moving to Los Angeles, experiencing new relationships, and the unexpected turns life has taken me on while pursuing my dreams. I’ve learned that not everything is stable, and even though sometimes it can be hard, I wouldn’t have it any other way.†After her performance of Smith’s “Come to Jesus†during her CD release event at the Derby Night Club in Los Angeles this past February, Melodee’s friend and mentor, Melina Kanakaredes, from CSI: New York, said, "There was something about that song, it just held me captive. It was my favorite."
Residing in Los Angeles since 2002, Melodee has been focused on her career success by learning all facets of the entertainment industry from acting to producing to writing and singing. Over the past two years, she has collaborated with DJ Chuck Lepley on vocals for dance tracks including "Take Me" signed to Mining Vinyl, and "Eyes" signed to Harlem Records and Strawberry Blonde which was released on DJ Steve Lawler's Lights Out 3 Compilation CD. Most recently, they released their track “Walk Away†on Sander Kleinenberg’s label Little Mountain Records. The track was instantly named top tune in IDJ magazines October 2007 issue, and described the song as “a gem of a package…offset by the beautiful Tori Amos-like vocal.†Melodee is busy promoting her music through performances at popular venues such as the world famous Derby, King King, The Gig, and Genghis Cohen.
Growing up in Pittsburgh with a single mother and an estranged father, Melodee firmly rooted herself in her faith performing as a soloist in her church at the age of three and on a certain career track by the age of nine when she shared the stage with John Denver at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh for a televised Christmas Special. Following her calling as an actress and singer, she graduated from Point Park Conservatory in Pittsburgh, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater and has performed in several stage productions including playing Morgan Le Fay in King Arthur at PPC and playing Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie with the Peters Players. Other radio and television credits include a live performance on Pittsburgh radio 93.7 (B94) singing "Children Will Listen" from Into the Woods and a co-star guest role as Mel on "The Buzz†with Dr. Cindy aired on Encore WAM.
Today, Melodee continues to be an active member in her church in Studio City leading worship in a Contemporary service called “The Room Upstairs†where she accompanies many big session players. Melodee also enjoys teaching Modern Dance on a weekly basis to children of ages 18 months to 11 years old. In addition, she supports charities including Outreach International, an organization that offers a service to place committed volunteers in selected and meaningful projects around the world. Devoted to making a difference, she says, “At the end of the day, I want to connect with as many people as possible, through both my daily experiences and my music. I’d love for nothing more than to inspire people with the beauty of nothing but change in their lives.â€
Melodee is currently working on a new EP to be released in the new year with two-time Grammy nominee Producer Jeff Savage. Check out the fresh sound in the new version of “You Don’t Love me†on her website and myspace. For more information contact Melodee Lynn at
