Currently moving in to my new apartment.
Going through stuff of mine I haven't seen in years.
Unpacking boxes that have been at my parents garage for a decade.
Yes, I am now in sole possession of everything mine.
Yearbooks, photos, knick-knacks, ephemera...
Kind of sad.
I've been remembering all the stuff that happened.
To me, around me...
It makes my current life seem boring.
Although it's not that my life is now boring, it's that 25 years of activities experienced in 45 minutes make the past seem terribly exciting and fast paced.
Still...
It would be nice to go back to those people, at those times and in those places...just to be there again for a day or two.
I've never been a photo hoarder.
I feel like if I get my hands on old photos when I'm a geezer it'll just depress me.
So here's to old friends and memories.
And stealing wireless internet at your new apartment.
I'll be in lafayette in 2 days if anyone cares.

Yesterday was the best Easter in a long time.

Despite continuing clouds, I love austin.
This weekend I saw Calvin Russell for the first time and I learned Calvin Russell is amazing.
This weekend I heard Doug Sahm for the first time and learned he is better than amazing. I learned that You should listen to Doug Sahm right now.
This weekend I learned what the difference is between Indian blankets and Indian paintbrushes.
I learned that steering wheels on old cadillacs are sexy and better than modern steering wheels.
I learned that all my good friends in Lafayette are still all my good friends in Lafayette.
I learned that Justen has not completely escaped the Dumpster.
This weekend I learned that sometimes people are just insensitive and mean.
But Most Important of All:
I learned to watch out for Cory because he can sneak his arms around you while you're sitting on his lap and you'll never know about it and then you'll look gay.
I had a good time this weekend.

I love Austin. Even if it is raining.

Has it been this long since I've typed anything? Perhaps it has...how boring. In extremely recent news I have been sidelined by bouts of intestinal rage and some sort of sore back. No word yet on whether the two are related although I think they are...The other theory is that I jarred my innards so much while dancing this past weekend that they are in actual physical revolt. The pain is on my back up where my liver/spleen would be. It couldn't possibly be related to drinking, right? Right.
The bonus is that I got to miss work today. The un-bonus is that i got to realize how fucking boring my life is. I just kind of sat around all day. Made me wish I had something really important to be doing. Like helping people. Or making a lot of money. All I really want to be doing is drinking and dancing to The Weary Boys or the Lost Bayou Ramblers...my innards might have something to say about that though. My innards want a fucking desk job.
Currently listening to Hard Luck Hittin'.
By Mr. Matteoli.
Just thought I'd let you know. I've become aware that the myspace bloggers can choose to let you know what they're listening to...apparently you want to know, so there it is. Incidentally, this was going to be a blog (my first one!) but when faced with the blog page i couldn't type anything. When faced with this page all of this comes out...
Strange.

If freckles were lovely, and day was night,
And measles were nice and a lie warn't a lie,
Life would be delight,--
But things couldn't go right
For in such a sad plight
I wouldn't be I.
If earth was heaven and now was hence,
And past was present, and false was true,
There might be some sense
But I'd be in suspense
For on such a pretense
You wouldn't be you.
If fear was plucky, and globes were square,
And dirt was cleanly and tears were glee
Things would seem fair,--
Yet they'd all despair,
For if here was there
We wouldn't be we.

My chickens have been killed by a night beast.
I had both a birthday and the subsequent party.
The party was at South Padre Island.
It was totally rad.
I went to a wedding for my friends Louis and Ashlee.
It, too, was totally rad.
I love Louis and Ashlee.
The current plan is to quit my job in December and embark on a completely new path.
It is time for a change.
June 20, 2006...
It is raining in austin.
A monk asked Zhaozhou to teach him.
Zhaozhou asked, "Have you eaten your meal?"
The monk replied, "Yes, I have."
"Then go wash your bowl," said Zhaozhou.
At that moment, the monk was enlightened.
This past weekend (2.9.06-2.12.06) was spent dancing all night long, attending parties, drinking too much, eating king cake and being extremely financially irresponsible. It was fucking rad. South America is looking less and less like a possibility every day (although it wasn't ever a very good possiblity). But whatever. I can, apparently, stay in Austin and drink myself into some sort of weird dancing nirvana. Last weekend, Austin turned into Lafayette.

It is raining and freezing cold in austin (day 3) and I am sad and confused. Usually people just throw around the word confused like "I can't find that knife. Man, I am confused." But not me. I really fucking mean it this time...
I'm going to festival tomorrow.
I wait 360 days a year to do this.

Started eating enough food. Now I am no longer tired all the time. I eat a lot of food! Who knew? As a matter of fact I am just about to leave and go get a burrito.
Went dancing last weekend to the redstick ramblers. They are quite good. Discovered that the "creepy waltz" is really my dance speciality. Drank too many beers because Betsy kept buying me beers right after I had purchased my own beers and I felt like drinking all the beers. I love Betsy. And the Redstick Ramblers. And Feu Follet. They played at Justin and Lacey's wedding and it was very very fun. Reading this, the only things that let you know i live in austin is "burrito" and "Betsy".
