Jeremy Brendan Day & The Resistance

About Me

Music is personal. Whether you are the listener applying the songs to events in your life or the musician trying to get out all the things that live in your soul; this is why music is a universal and powerful obsession for so many. For Jeremy Brendan Day it is no different, from either perspective. He is a great musician because he strives to be as great as those musicians who have sound tracked his life. He has realized that an honest song, straight from the soul is what gives people the connection that they look for in music. He has perfected the heart on your sleeve style of lyrics that dare the listeners not to relate to what he is singing about. As with most future musicians, Jeremy started early in his life, writing anything down that he just could not figure out in his head. At the age of 12 these thoughts were less coherent than befitted a song, but Jeremy loved the feeling of getting these feelings and thoughts out of his head. As Jeremy began to hone his writing skills and moved into those confusing teen-age years he began to see the potential his words could have as songs. Then came the pivotal moment that forces many an artistic soul to snap into action: his first taste of love. And, more importantly, his first taste of the loss. As with those before him and those who come after, Jeremy was thrown into the world of songwriting by the hurt of a broken heart and the complete confusion on how to deal with it. Though not completely satisfied with the strengths of his writing, Jeremy immersed himself in the musical scene by drumming for a number of local bands, all while working on his new found passion for writing. After this first taste of real life and real musicianship Jeremy could not be stopped. Now 28 years old and writing songs not only about love lost and gained, but about other such unifying topics as death, anger, secret addictions and being out of place he has brought his songwriting talents into the world, beyond his basement. Jeremy has recorded his first album, Little Black Radio (2004) , as a collection of acoustic folk-rock demos with the help of Kitchener-area, studio maverick, Arun Pal. After a successful and highly therapeutic recording experience he returned to the studio for what has now been over 5 years recording the follow up, “This Road Leads To” which is set to be released in early 2010.With his ever-evolving sound and the ability to touch peoples inner most emotions with his lyrics and melodies Jeremy Brendan Day is able to do what most true musicians strive to do; he connects with his listeners. His unique sound and his ability to keep his childlike honesty even as he grows and becomes more cynical, as we all do, Jeremy stands to be around for a long time. As long as people search out music to soothe their aching souls, Jeremy’s music will never become irrelevant.
