About DEJA
In today’s world of instant recording stars, very few new artists can honestly say they have actually worked their way up through the music industry ranks from the bottom. For Chicago native Janet “Deja†Alonzo, the road to becoming a recording artist began at the age of seven, when she first hit the stage as a dancer for Merengue legends Los Hermanos Rosario. Six years later Deja joined the dance group Fantacia Juvenil and she has not looked back since. Performing on national and international stages as a member of Fantacia Juvenil, exposed Deja to the rigors of life on the road, and allowed her to hone her skills as a singer songwriter. After Fantacia Juvenil, Deja spent several years working as a choreographer in her hometown of Chicago. During this time Deja continued working on her skills as songwriter, and eventually moved to LA, where she spent several years working as a back up vocalist for Rap group WOLFBREED. Upon returning to Chicago, Deja used the industry connections she’d made in LA to begin working as a solo artist. And has since opened up for Latin music heavyweights such as: La India, Daddy Yankee, Monchi y Alexandra, Elvis Crespo, Tego Calderon and R&B Rap Group Duo or Die. Deja also found the time to complete work on several new singles, which are sure to set the Latin music world ablaze. The first single, an infectious lead track entitled “Puertorican Luvâ€, which features a sample of the Tina Marie classic “Portuguese Loveâ€, is already garnering solid industry buzz for the Chi-Town native. The follow-up single, a dance hall anthem entitled “Bumpâ€, is sure to set the dance floors on fire, and solidify Deja as a rising tour de force in the Latin music world.
