I'm writing a PhD thesis on the 1930s/1940s British novelist Henry Green, which contends that his works propose a simultaneously referential and anti-referential space in which late modernist debates about representation (which many critics tend to see as being a fundamentally Gallic undertaking) are staged. I'm also interested in the relationship between literature and visual arts, and the grey area between genre fiction and surrealism. So there's that, and then the other stuff. I write poems, some of which work and some of which don't, and stories which are by and large a disguised attempt to give an account of watching a really brilliant film. I play in a band called Teknikov: we use lots of broken equipment. My personal life...I have a delicious girlfriend who can read faster than the robot in "Short Circuit" (this makes me jealous). I'm from the North East/ North Yorkshire and am a bit of a bumpkin at heart. I have an unhealthy obsession with football and football stadia which is coupled with an unfortunate devotion to Darlington F.C., who are, as the commentators say, "perennial underachievers".
My Interests
I'd like to meet:
Alice Roberts, Neil Oliver and Nicholas Crane for a long coastal hike followed by a drunken trip to the Dracula Experience in Whitby.
