Mammoths Melting Out of the Ice!?!

About Me

once upon a time, jeff t. smith and guy justusson realized that nobody else liked making the music the way they did. post-post-post-rock legend has it that there were some "late night, experimental explorations in sound" - which sounds pretentious (according to jenna), and kind of is, but in a good way, okay? later on, they added violist jenna isherwood, who arrived from a kingdom far far away, and mighty action-slacks-clad drummer tyler jones to the equation and "the orchards of saturn or mmmbop" emerged in its current form. later, after realizing this band name was horrible, they changed their name to the marginally better moniker, "mammoths melting out of the ice!?!" together, the fearless foursome battled bravely against various obstacles such as homelessness, malfunctioning equipment, noise violations, being shit on by pro-tools, dragons, broken toes, an inability to think of a serious band name, and living in ohio. however, with the odds stacked against them, they still managed to write some songs play some shows. however that is all in the past now. we will never play any of these songs again. mammoths melting out of the ice are a dead band. we still love music though, almost as much as we hate it. however, there is still some hope for the future as new projects with former members of MMOOTI!?! emerge. currently, juffage is writing works for solo piano and is working on new songs with tyler jones for a two-piece band which will potentially carry the name "manduo." guy and jeff are also starting to work on some acoustic jamz again. there will be more news of this nature in the future. thank you very much for listening.
the two songs "ohio sucks or welcome to bowling green ohio, home of the national tractor pulling championships" and "happy birthday, motherfucker" were recorded at bowling green state university by jeff and guy in two weekends sometime in late april 2005. these songs appear on the EP "meow hit lot dood." the song "at the forefront of the freebird revival" appears on the band's first and only self-titled full length album along with 10 other brand new never before heard tracks. the album also features the newer (and much improved) version of the song "iron chef (ohio sucks, pt. 2). the album features beautiful packaging made to look like inter-office mail with a 14 page booklet and is limited to 100 copies. each album is also hand stamped by the band and features hand made inserts and envalopes. if you live in the greater 48 states and would like to order either of these albums, please send 10 dollars for the full length and five dollars for the EP via paypal to [email protected] we don't have an online order form or a better way to do it at this point, unfortunately. if you live out of the country, shipping may be a little more but that doesn't mean we don't want to send it to you. we realize you had a choice in bands and we thank you for choosing mammoths melting out of the ice!?! to fulfill all of yr rocking needs.
love,
jeff juffage, tyler jones, jen-jen mmmbop, guy.
