I have created this "Space" to make people aware of what is happening with our kids and their schools expectations of them. With the start of "No Child Left Behind" our schools are focusing more on teaching the kids how to succeed in all the state assesment testing that they are not teaching them what they need to learn. As a result, they spend 7 hours a day at school without learning much at all so they are forced to do hours of homework every night. When are they supposed to be kids? When can they take dance classes, gymnastics, play with their friends? NCLB has put so much pressure on the schools to meet the yearly "goals" that our children are missing out on quality family time and having it replaced by homework. THIS IS AN INVASION OF MY HOME.......I want to be able to spend time with my children without having to get after them all night to do homework when all they want to do is unwind from a 7 hour day at school. Would you like to get off work and have to come home and do MORE? You would not be able to relax, unwind and enjoy other activities or most important your FAMILY. This has got to stop, our children are frustrated, tired and are forgetting how to be kids. We need your help, once I have enough supporters I will take this further with school boards, politicians etc......so please accept my invitation to "MYSPACE" and tell all of your friends to join, the more support, the louder our voice will be.
