About Me

John M: Born in New York City in 1954. (Do the math if you care.) Raised in CT, and currently based in the Los Angeles, California area. Singer/songwriter, guitar player. Started playing guitar when I was 13. Have “dabbled” with some other instruments, (bass, piano, drums, etc,) but the only one I really “play” is guitar. I perform both locally and nationally, both as a solo acoustic act and occasionally fronting a full band. I own my own state-of-the-art recording studio in L.A, where I made my last two CD’s. I am also a producer and occasionally produce clients who come to my studio. The website for my recording studio is: www.m-pirerecordingstudio.com All information including photos, MP-3 samples, lists of equipment, etc, is there. I have produced 5 albums, and a Christmas EP. The two most recent CD’s are, “NO OVERDUBS,” which is a live, solo acoustic recording, and, “SONGS I WISH I’D WRITTEN,” which is a collection my versions of some of my favorite cover songs from writers and artists like, Billy Joel, Jackson Browne, Richard Thompson, Bob Seger, Jethro Tull, and The Who, among others. You can find more information and MP-3 samples from all my recordings at my official website: www.johnm.com My CD’s are also available at www.cdbaby.com I also produced, directed, and star in a feature length documentary film about House Concerts. The film is called, “House Concerts, (The Home Invasion Tour,)” and it follows me on a tour from New Hampshire to Los Angeles doing concerts in people’s homes. The film is currently available on DVD at www.filmbaby.com Additional info including the official trailer, film clips, director’s statement, photos, etc, is available both at my website, www.johnm.com and at www.filmbaby.com Apart from music, my interests include travel, people, movies, the water, the mountains, good conversation, good food, and generally enjoying life and trying to make each day different from every other day. To find out more about my personal feelings, beliefs, convictions, etc, you COULD try listening to my music,.. (everything that means anything to me finds its way into my songs sooner or later,) or you could check out my BLOGs, either here at myspace, or at my johnm.com website. Thanks for visiting!
