Manos Matsos

Manos Matsos was born in Athens. His first approach to music was at the age of 15 when he started taking lessons of Classical Percussion in the Municipal Conservatory of Zografos, taught by Prof. Konstantinos Vorisis(Snare Drum and Timpani) and Konstantinos Theodorakos(Mallet Percussion) while he’s also self-taught in drums.In 1996 he started lessons in the Modern Music School Of Athens and had lessons for 5 years, having Messrs N.Sidirokastrites, G.Metallinos and St.Dimitrious as his teachers, while he was participating as a drummer and main composer in the Greek progressive metal legends Guardian Angel(3rd place in the category of “Best Greek Band” in 1998 in a voting made by Metal Hammer’s readers and 1st place in the category “Best Future Hope” in a voting made by Metal Invader’s readers in 1999). Between 1999 and 2003 he worked in “Architektoniki Club” drumming in the cover band “Methexis”. In 2002 he took his diploma in Classical Percussion, graded “Excellent”.In 2003 he graduated from Modern Music School Of Athens.Since 2002 he’s teaching Classical Percussion in the Music High School of Pallini, whilst since 2004 he’s teaching Drums in Modern Music School of Athens.( http://www.modernmusicschool.gr)He has cooperated as session drummer and Classical Percussionist with various composers and artists (Vaggelis Papathanasiou, Thanasis Polykandriotis, Takis Mousafiris, Mando, Thanos Kalliris, Sofia Arvaniti, Grigoris Petrakos,Hsaias Matiaba,Marina Aggelou,Sofia Strati,Nikos Mihas etc. having participated in a considerable amount of Drum clinics,live and TV appearances. Since January 2006 he's studying Musicology in University Of Athens.
