Afari: The Art and Music of Westin Harris

About Me

At the age of 10, Westin picked up his first instrument, bass guitar, under the mentorship of his grandfather. After a year of playing bass, Westin became utterly enchanted by the art of music. Shortly after, he set out on a journey to explore all facets of musical expression. Westin's Celtic roots inspired him to learn the Irish pennywhistle and the Great Highland Bagpipes; he also went on to stufy the mandolin, didjeridoo, congas, djembe, and the native american flute. Most recently, Westin has begun venturing into the world of music recording and production. Using nothing but a 2-Track interface and a desktop PC, Westin hopes to capture the raw, wild sound of Afari without imposing the mediating, categorical perspectives that plague much of the mainstream music scene. Through Afari, Westin strives to project an aura of positivity while blazing new trails for players of folk and ethnic instruments.
<--Westin is currently independently recording his EP. As new songs are recorded, they will be added to this page, so check back often for new vibrations!-->
