In the August of 2007, Joe Fox really got into the Misfits and Calabrese and wasn’t in a band at the time, so he asked John Skeens, a good friend of his at the time, if he’d want to start a horror punk band. To Joe’s surprise, John said “yes.†Joe knew a bassist Patrick Williams and John knew a drummer Robert Motsinger, so the band started 2 weeks after the idea was made. The original name of the band was Screams of Scarlet, but that sounded like a grindcore band, so after hours of brain storming Joe and John decided on the name “The Zombatsâ€.
Well the Zombats started playing shows in December and after their fourth show Robert told the band that he was moving to Louisiana in two weeks… Well after a couple months of no luck finding a drummer John wanted to call it quits, but then a miracle happened. Joe’s Cousin and good friend, Logan Adolf, was already the front man in another band, Mister Bucket, but he decided that he didn’t want to see the Zombats end. So he was humble enough to step up and drum for The Zombats.
Then in the summer of 2008, Pat decided that he wanted to go into the reserves for the marines. This didn’t mean he wanted to quit the band though, so we asked a local funk bassist, Jordan Pain, if he’d sub in for The Zombats when Pat's gone doing marine stuff. Jordan agreed to take the role, and took care of our bassist situation.
Then in the February of 2009, the band had a big show with Blitzkid in a month, so Joe text John asking him when practice would work out for him, and John text back, “sorry dude, I quit.â€... That was the end of John. Joe was worried, but a good friend of the band, Ryan Carr, told him not to worry because his friend Bryon Koecke is a great guitarist and would fit right in with the band. Well, Ryan was right! The band knew it’d work out the first practice and it did.
Now we’re four guys wanting to make a difference in the scene, and we appreciate and love everybody that supports us and our music!
