First dates are always awkward in one way or another. Dinner or something small is always good. NO Movies, think about it, how can you get to know someone when your sitting watching a movie?? The bottom line is, you can't. So maybe a few drinks instead of a movie in a not to noisy place, this way you can get to know each other better and if the night goes well, talk about a second date. I can be a bit old fashioned at times, meaning...Flowers, opening doors, etc....
