For 18 year old Austin “Phantastic†Ferrell the UNIVERSE is the limit, and this Rapper/Skateboarder will stop at nothing to pursue his dream of making it to the top in the entertainment industry.
Austin “Phantastic†Ferrell was born on April 18, 1991 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Though being raised in West Philadelphia, Phantastic began attending Meredith-School for Performing Arts, in South Philadelphia. As a child, Phantastic exhibited creativity in his ability to draw. His father, a painter/jeweler/sculptor, possessed unbelievable creative talents that were passed on to his son. Phantastic began rapping in the 6th grade, and with a handheld tape recorder, began recording songs in 7th. With musical influences such as, Michael Jackson, Jay Z, T.I., Lil Wayne, and Ludacris, Phantastic’s expectations were set at such a level that hard work and sacrifices were requisites.
In 2001, Phantastic moved to North Philadelphia. With less exposure to gang related violence and drug distribution, Phantastic was able to revel in relaxed living conditions. He picked up skateboarding in late 2004, and has not stopped “grinding†since.
In February 2005, Phantastic moved to Titusville, Florida. In a remote town thirty minutes away from the nearest hot spot, Phantastic had to work that much harder to make a name for himself. Seeking music production, Phantastic hooked up with Monell Phillips at Demoville Productions and diligently began working in a professional studio. Successfully completing one song after another, Phantastic sought promotion and distribution. He contacted local club promoters and was soon able to book gigs in Orlando, FL. Starting in small venues such as Austin’s Coffee/Film & Underground Bluz Nightclub, Phantastic grew comfortable on stage and developed a stage presence unlike any other. “I perform for one person as if I’m performing for ten thousand. It makes no difference to me.†“Because I go hard every time, people tend to get more than they expect,†Phantastic expresses whole heartedly.
Phantastic currently resides in Titusville FL where he continues to excel musically. He can be seen performing at local hot spots in the Orlando Area, or caught skateboarding at you local skate spot. Phantastic carries his skateboard with him wherever he goes allowing him to stay “on the grindâ€. “A while back, T.I. told me to stay out of trouble,†states Phantastic. “Skateboarding demands a lot of my time therefore, with music and skating, there is no time for trouble.†Phantastic synthesizes by taking the best of both worlds, and merging them together in one. Combining skateboarding and rap music allows Phantastic to represent skateboarders influenced by the Hip Hop culture. “I am a Hip Hop Skateboarder; skate-rap is my thing. I feel that skateboarders on the Hip-Hop side should be represented by one of there own. No disrespect to any other rapper, but I don’t just RAP about skateboarding, I actually skateboard.â€
Phantastic carries a unique style that compliments his raw lyrical abilities. His inner sanctuary of swag is reflected in his poise skateboard executions. With this much talent, Phantastic is surely one to keep an eye on. As he likes to say, “I am what my name is… Phantastic.â€
