About Me
Music is and has been my whole life.
Been playing and singing professionally since age 13, along with sound reinforcement since that time.
I moved to SunValley Idaho at the tender age of 12 from
SanDiego California, where i was influenced by a wide variety of music, alot of which i have posted.
It was there that i went to a school dance where some friends of mine were playing, i noticed they needed some serious help with their sound so i set out to improve on what they had. Also i knew i had to be in that band. One week later i was. And so it began, INSANITY HA!
I have played in a wide variety of bands since that time.
I do my best work in a colaborating situation. (Give me a theme)
I did the talent show thing, where i won 1st place three different times, then on to State. Talent shows were not my thing however.
I changed band members and we played battle of the bands
where as we placed third in state. So much for changing band members!
Writing songs was something i always enjoyed, so i always had some sort of recording gear ( not always good).
Then they came out with affordable home recording gear.
What a concept, now one really gets to go insane, writer,
player, engineer, WHOA! And i thought playing was hard, HA!I love working with talent,and watch it blossom.
In 1981 a DJ friend of mine ( Rob Hunter) asked if i would come and engineer for him at his studio,Appaloosa productions. I jumped at the opportunity to have hands on experience at a production studio.
We produced radio adds and Jingles, the best was recording
bands. That was a two year stretch, then Rob closed down and moved on,Damn. Where you at man? Great guy.In 1989 i designed and built my own commercial studio, Ovio productions. I had my own studio set up at home, but found that more and more people needed my sevices, so i saw the need to go commercial. It was there that I started
a band called OVIO which played a ten year stretch(Phew!)
Being in a band is like being married to five people, whoa!
I have worked with the likes of Richard Dreyfuss, David Hemmings, Chad Stewert,Jeff Rew,Paul Davis,Suzanne Jusst, The professors blues review,Steve Miller,QS, Sumeria Sky,My son Daniel Norton
The Maladies, and many others. All wonderful creative people.
I look to have another commercial studio in the near future
Just money away, RIGHT? And location is a plus.
My goal is to work with talent and give them a push.
It can be done! With the RIGHT TEAM.
I have two of my children playing professionally as well, Daughter Randi Norton/ SumeriaSky and son Daniel Norton plays drums and guitar and has recently started his new album
They make me so proud, can't wait for them to really pop.
I have 5 other children also into music. Tiffany,Joshua,Amy
Ana,and Raul. My wife Billie is very supportive with our music.
