Dire Straits Tribute "Dire Straitz"

About Me

The Dutch Dire Straits Tribute "Sultans of Swing" started in the early nineties. After a few very successful years with even airtime on national television in 1996, the band took a short break in 2000. Strangely enough the break lasted for almost 7 years.

Since they formally never broke up Wilco and Peter decided (january 2007) that the time was right for the revival of the "Sultans of Swing" as the only Dire Straits tribute in the Netherlands. They searched and found three new musicians: Rob, Bart-Jan and Gerard. With Rob, Bart-Jan and Gerard the band was complete again and ready to swing!

Unfortunately after a few tryouts and succesfull bandcontests Robert and Bart-jan decided to go their own way and Peter was to busy with his own music company. At that time Wilco and Gerard gave it one more try and found Robin van Welzenes, Robert van der Wulp and Maurice Mullens. So, again the band is complete and changed the name to Dire Straitz.
