Born in Merida (Yucatan, Mexico), a land of music,
Poetry and of deep Mexican artistic culture, Aleks Syntek started his
career at the age of 15 (1985).
He began composing music for several advertising campaigns and
T.V. jingles, while he played keyboards with several rock bands in the
underground scene. A few years later, he signed under the EMI Music
record label with a band called: "Aleks Syntek & La Gente Normal".A contemporary of talents such as: Cafe Tacuba, Jaguares & Mana; Syntek
is also considered a local musical icon and the Mexican version of
"Elton John & Joe Jackson", due to his popularity as a top performer in
rock piano & pop synth player. The 2002 North American issue of
"Keyboard Magazine", reviewed Aleks Syntek as the "Mexican king of pop".To date he has worked as a producer, arranger and composer with many
artists, such as Alejandro Fernandez, Enrique Iglesias
and Paulina Rubio. Syntek has also shared the stage with artist like
Celia Cruz, Gloria Stefan, Duran Duran, Richard Marx and Ricky Martin
amongst others. Other credits include musical scores for short films and
several Mexican movies. In 1999 he received the Mexican Academy Movie
Award
for "Best Score" with the movie " Sexo, Pudor y Lagrimas (Sex, Shame &
Tears) ".
With his band he recorded 4 albums that reached several Gold albums, as
well as many Mexican local awards.In 1999, Syntek decides to pursue his solo career and since then, he has
recorded 3 multi Platinum albums and achieving 2 billboard awards, 4
Latin Grammy nominations and 2 MTV LA's nominations.Aleks Syntek is a visionary and a well respected composer all over
Latin America. His music has always lead important breakthroughs
In the pop & rock scenes, influencing a lot of today's
singer/songwriters, composers, producers and artists.Currently, he is planning a mainstream crossover including several
English versions of his original Spanish language hits.
