The Krosstown Hoop Fest is the biggest outdoor basketball tournament in Central Florida.KHF was founded in 2000 by Comfort "Tiger" Wright. At the time of the 1st Annual Krosstown Hoop Fest, Tiger was only 15 yrs old and a 10th grade student-athlete at Auburndale Senior High School. He said that the idea of a community basketball tournament came about after watching a streetball DVD of similar qualities. His vision was then thought out while taking a shower. Unaware that the Central Florida area was in need of an event of this calibar, the 1st Annual Krosstown Hoop Fest was a huge success. NBA superstar Tracy McGrady had even stopped by to see who coordinated the event, being that it was taking place in his hometown.In the beginning, the eight teams to play first ever in the hoop fest were made up of different neighborhoods in small cities like Auburndale, Winter Haven, Lakeland, and Haines City. Each year after, more better players from further distances would come to form a team and raise the competition. Local residents of Polk County had become loyal spectators of Tiger's Krosstown Hoop Fest by the time the third annual hoop fest was held. The Krosstown Hoop Fest was named after the neighborhood where the streetball tournament is hosted. A small urban division in Auburndale, Fl.It was not until the 4th Annual KHF when businesses became interested in sponsoring the tournament. The financial support from sponsors helped KHF grow into a more orgainzed basketball tournament. Other festivities like music performances, freestyle battles, and the slam dunk contest also contributed to KHF's success. Not to mention, the food vendors that served delicious BBQ. The rest is history in the making.
