If the music industry were like high school, DJ B*Ryte would be the girl that guys want to be with and the one that girls want to emulate. Her style is raw and refreshing and her confidence behind the turntables is magnetic: its what consistently leaves the crowds craving for more. Virginia born DJ B*Ryte scratched her way onto the music scene in her sophomore year at Hampton University. Her organically-eclectic style flows from her limited edition kicks to her style behind the turntables and yells out to the crowd “I’m here†from the surround sound speakers.
Growing up, B*Ryte was exposed to every genre of music—from Yani to the Ying-Yang Twins. She used music as her safe house, and soaked up everything that she could possibly learn. Like an arranged marriage, it was almost predestined that she would make her way into the music business; and after the first time she touched a pair of Technics, she knew that she was home. Although her first love is Hip-Hop, her open-mind and versatility is what makes her style unpredictable—and the crowd likes it that way. Her latest mixtape, “Two Can Play That Game,†a blends duo with DJ Mista Nice was named “Mix CD of the Month, February 2008†by the Southeast Music and Entertainment Summit.
