Gena McGuire

About Me

Gena McGuire was born in New Haven Connecticut, the youngest child of a very large and eclectic family. Her mother was a jazz singer and Brooklyn native, while her father was a theologian and philosopher whom also took part in the daily grind of corporate America. The combination gave her a foundation of spirituality, sophistication and pure love of music. At the age of six Gena began playing the piano. She studied Classical all throughout her high school and early college years. She wanted desperately to write her own music and in her Junior year switched to Jazz. Eventually she decided to take the plunge and move to Manhattan to pursue her dream. With no room for a piano she began experimenting with different vocal styles from jazz to blues and hip hop, slamming lyrical poetry and singing freestyle. Finally she found room for a piano, and the merger of the sights, stories, and sounds of the city came together into what is the very unique and special sound of Gena McGuire.......Venues Include: The Bitter End, The Triad, Rose Live Music, Cafe Nine, Unwined at Symphony Space, Don't Tell Mama, Arturo's Restaurant, The Sidewalk Cafe, The National Underground, Caffe Vivaldi,Trio Restaurant and Wine Bar, The Rockwood Music Hall,Duane Park Restaurant and Lounge...............About Me:found this plain layout at HOT FreeLayouts.com :: MyHotComments...com/banner_88x31_01.gif" border="0">
