The area of Wilmington, NC where Carolina Beach Road and College Road Intersect is know to locals as Monkey Junction. It gets it's namesake from a mom and pop store that sat on the corner, but also housed monkeys as a form of "stop here" advertising common to the era. Many things have changed since that store was there, but the folklore remains.
So when coming up with a name that would be immediately recognizable to locals, we couldn't help but to call ourselves the Monkey Junction Band. Laid back, acoustic music inspired by the likes of the Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, Ray Charles, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Bill Withers, and Pearl Jam, The Monkey Junction Band was formed to take our love of various styles of music and bring them together to form "acousticbluerockgrass".
The full band got together in mid-November of 2007 after short stint as an acoustic trio. Now we're back to our roots as an acoustic trio with the occaisional conga, violin, harmonica thrown in when we're having open jams. We do play originals, but since we typically play a 3 hour show, we have to throw in some solid covers. For a sample set list, shoot an email [email protected].
"Thank you guys so much for coming out to our formal and showing everybody a good time. I cannot express how much fun we had with you guys. In the past, there have been 150 people on the boat and the energy was not even close to what you guys were able to generate from 40 people this year. Almost every single person came up to me afterwards and expressed their gratitude for having such a kick ass band there. I look forward to seeing you all again soon, and The Monkey Junction Band will definitely be on the top of our list for our year-round events. Thanks again"

Sounds Like: Since we're "officially" a 3-piece acoustic trio, our sound can be defined as this: Jack Johnson, Greg Allman and Eddie Vedder go to lunch with Bill Withers and Ray Charles and invite Joe Cocker out for drinks.
Here’s WHAT They’re Saying:

"I rolled into Wormwood’s Bar and Grill about 45 minutes into their first set and I’ll be damned, they didn’t suck! In fact, they’re actually pretty good. Lee does a good job fronting the band and sings with a lot of soul I didn’t really expect. Along with a string bass and percussion, they’ve a fine sound. " - Adam Butler, News 14 Charlotte NC.
