Bernard D. Holcomb, tenor, is a recent winner of the Michigan District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Mr. Holcomb has performed several roles with the University of Michigan Opera Theatre including Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Boheme conducted by Maestro Martin Katz and Jenik in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride. Mr. Holcomb has been a participant in several Michigan Opera Theatre programs including summers with Learning at the Opera House (Department of Community Programs) and was also featured in mainstage productions singing the roles of Nelson and Crabman in Porgy and Bess as well as Gastone in La Traviata. Orchestral engagements include performances of the Verdi Requiem with the University Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Kenneth Kiesler and scenes from Die Zauberflote with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Christopher Seaman. Mr. Holcomb’s recent engagements include the role of Lyric Tenor in Argento’s Postcard from Morocco, Lensky in Eugene Onegin with the University of Michigan Opera Theater, and the Verdi Requiem with the Holland Symphony.
