About Me

WELCOME!
I started playing the snaredrum in a local marching band when I was ten years old. At the age of fourteen I bought a Tama drumkit and that's when drumming really became my passion. Ever since I've played the drums in various bands and all kinds of styles (from pop and rock to blackmetal to african percussion).
I really enjoy doing live gigs, because of the energy that's unleashed. Live-drumming is all about being in the moment and nowhere else. Therefore I've done many live performances on stages across the Netherlands and some in Belgium , Germany and Thailand. These gigs concern performing live in smaller venues (local bars and clubs for example), but also in stadion arena's as well as large venues and large festivals (for example: Ahoy Rotterdam, Effenaar Eindhoven, 013 Tilburg, Nirwana's Tuinfeest, Bevrijdingsfestival, etcetera).
Besides live performances I also enjoy doing studio projects. I have done several studio recording projects in the past and will continue to do so in the future (check out the leftside of this page for discography and projects).
On occasion I also teach kids the basics of playing the drums. My main focus doesn't lie on technique. Though techniques are quite important, I do not believe that they are the most important in drumming. To me drumming equals emotion.
I love beating the skins because in some way it can be quite therapeutic. For instance I can unleash all of my fury, beating the crap out of my drums. But I can also be mellow, laidback and easygoing therefore producing a relaxing rhythm.
My philosophy about playing the drums is that it is all about finding and contacting your inner-emotions and vice versa. Express yourself through the drums. This is my way of playing the drums and I like to share this philosophy with others.
Therefore I eat, breathe and sleep drums and will do so for the rest of my life. So as you can see, drumming can definitely be a way of life!
Wanna say 'hi'? Curious for more info? Just drop me a line ;-)
