Tropic of Nelson is comprised of four young men eager to unveil their unique 21st century rock formula to the world. Taking cue from the previous decade’s finest testosterone imbued acts (Drive Like Jehu, The Jesus Lizard, Shellac…) the Brooklyn based quartet filters intricate guitar interplay through a veil of disjointed melodies and noise. After spending over a year and a half behind closed doors meticulously honing their sound, the band emerged this past winter mature well beyond adolescence; a finely tuned machine bound to engage the most callous of audiences. Their live performances are a powerfully visceral experience that will leave your ears ringing and begging for more.
Take a dip in the Tropic.

"Tropic Of Nelson will make you want to paint your walls red and slam dance with your roomate, then maybe hug and drink a beer and talk about how awesome that Torche record was last year. The Brooklyn band--who were nice enough to let us premiere these two songs, fresh out of mastering--make a lot of nods to groups like Portraits Of Past and Ignition, hardcore bands from the nineties that realized a) they could count good and b) the macho thing was played out, so why not start writing stuff in weird time signatures with chords that make your fingers hurt and not scream so loudly. But it's 2009 now, and these guys are doing their thing in a most unfashionable time, ripping yarnball guitar parts and sweating it out at shows where there isn't a laptop in sight."
