Ilkka and Aki hooked up a couple of years ago and realized that they share similar interests musically. They both seemed to have the same vision of what is good and what is not, and perhaps most importantly they shared the uncompromising attitude that is the driving force of their music today. The idea of making music together was born very soon and they started making songs, sometimes even performing some of the stuff acoustic at home parties. Gokillyourdarlings was formed, though the line-up didn't consist of any other members yet.
They kept making songs at the same time trying to find other band members to make the band complete. It wasn't until early 2007 when they found Mika to play bass with them, and he took his long-time band member Ville along from his then current band.
Hard training began, and the Gokillyourdarlings's sound started to form. Aki was forced to move from Helsinki 400 km north to Vaasa due to family related issues, which of course made the training with the whole band quite a lot more difficult. They didn't let that disturb, but the rest of the band kept training very intensively for the whole summer in Helsinki constantly sending demos to Aki, who kept sending them back his vocals recorded. Ideas were thrown both ways all the time. During that summer Ilkka, Mika and Ville really learned to play with each other as a band.
In the fall of 2007 they recorded a few songs at a studio in Helsinki in order to make a promo-ep, but the results failed to meet the demands of what the guys wanted their sound to be. So they recorded 'Broken Toy' and 'I am the One' in the spring of 2008, and their first self-published promo was born.
