About Me

Somewhere between the many rivers of Portland, OR and steaming crater of Mount St. Helens lies the sleepy town of Woodland, WA. Known for its beauty and logging roots it is now becoming known as home to one of the most talented songwriters the northwest has to offer. Brandy Lyn blends the smooth 70’s pop of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac and contemporary rock with the timelessness of classic singers and songwriters like Tom Petty. Whether it’s her take on a Sheryl Crow favorite or one of her own original tunes, she has a natural knack for finding the sweet spot and bringing it home.A singer ever since she can remember, Brandy Lyn didn’t start writing and playing her own songs until she was about 18 years old and yet, her very first year in the biz she won 2nd place in the Portland Songwriter Association’s Songwriter of the Year competition and was featured on the cover of HEET Magazine. Since then, she has built a substantial hometown and online following and been honored in several singing and songwriting contests, including finalist of the Fox12 Gimme the Mic competition, Garageband.com’s Track of the Day, Weekly Award’s Best Female Vocalist and most recently a finalist on AOL’s OurStage.com in the singer/songwriter category.Brandy Lyn still pays the bills fronting cover bands and playing solo acoustic sets at NW venues like the New Phoenix Show Room in La Center, WA, The Rutherglen Mansion in Longview, WA and working as a singing server on the Portland Spirit cruise ship. In the end, her love always comes back to playing original music. She has showcased at the Bite of Oregon as well as performed at every festival in her hometown of Woodland, including the Harvest, Tulip and Garlic festivals. After playing with several local acts over the years (her regionally popular all girl group Sound Spell developed a large dedicated following at the end of it‘s tenure), she is back to playing solo and hosts a pair of weekly songwriter series/jams at the longstanding Prairie Bar and Grill in Brush Prairie, WA and the 15th Street Pub in Vancouver, WA.Her most recent demos were recorded with a host of notable Portland area musicians and premier producers like Sean Norton (at his own SNAP studios in Portland, OR, www.seannorton.com) and Jimi Evans and Paul Bond in his home studio aka Balcony Dive Records. While for now she’s content with dreaming up new music and playing for local crowds, the horizon looms large for this SW Washington star. Keep a lookout for brand new demos and a new original project in the not-so distant future. Keep up with the latest at www.myspace.com/brandylynsongs. ~~~~~~Brandy would also like to give a big heartfelt THANK YOU to some amazing and inspiring musicians who make the music happen :) Sara Williamson and Beth Rhodes from Sound Spell... also Jeff Buehner, Jeff Carrell Scott Byrd and Steve May from Sweety..
