About Me

I've been portrayed by Laurence Fishburne in Cotton Club, and in Hoodlum, but my real story has never been told. Until now . . . Check out the Don Diva cover story on me and find out how I lived, and how I died. And how that rat fink snitch Frank Lucas is lying about his relationship to me. I never considered Frank anything more than a lowrent flunky! And that make sure you head over to www.harlemgodfather.com to find out about the book my widow, Mayme Johnson, is writing about me. Mayme is alive, 93, and still beautiful. And still holding it down for me!

Mayme is the original wifey!!!!!!!!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

In my life I knew everyone who was worth knowing in New York, and especially Harlem. People like Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Cab Calloway, Sidney Poitier (I was godfather to his oldest daughter!), Ossie Davis, Willie Mays, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, Malcolm X, Lena Horne, Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, Fats Waller. . . And of course I also knew all the Italian mobsters, too. Lucky Luciano, Albert Anastasia, Tony "Fats" Salerno, Frank Costello, Al Capone. And, yeah, I knew Dutch Schultz, too. That was the asshole who tried to take over the number rackets in Harlem until I stepped in.
But listen, someone tell me this . . . how is that when movies are made about the white gangsters they're either called mobsters, gangsters, or mafiaso; but when they made a movie based on my life they called it Hoodlum? Seems like a black man can't even get his due respect even when dead!
