About Me

Globalistica is run by DJ & producer David Williams aka DJ Equal-i (Anokha, Blue Note) and percussionist/ vocalist Cicely Taylor aka Congalita.Globalistica Events bring together live music and dance, djs and film screenings from around the globe, fusing together traditional cultural forms with the latest sounds. We believe in giving back to the global community, so any extra funds go towards a range of charities that work towards creating a balanced world (Plan, AntiSlavery International, Viva Rio). We'll be hosting another Globalistica night on Wednesday 19th December at the Volks Club in Brighton, this time opening the doors at 8pm for an 8.30pm screening of a film about the Viva Favela project in Rio.We have a fantastic line up of live music for the evening. We will be welcoming back the wonderful MARACATU NAO E - a 25-piece percussion and dance group who perform folkloric styles from North-east Brazil. We're also looking forward to a new set from CORO FOKLORICO, a 15-piece choir who specialise in the 'Bata-Ketu' style, which is a blend of African, Brazilian and Cuban songs and rhythms. Expect beautiful harmonies and uplifting rhythms! On the DJ front, we'll be getting down to some Tropical Afro-Latin tunes from the amazing DJ JOHN WARR of AfroBase, sampling some rare Columbian grooves from RADIO GIRAMUNDO, shaking it up with global beats from DJ EQUAL-I, and enjoying the best in Eclectica Delectica from FANCYPANTS & NANCYBOY!
