It took a while to find the right mix of musicians, but it finally clicked mid-2003: Wim (who formerly played with Baton Rouge, Sixpack and the Bailjumpers) joined Luc and Fons (both coming from Mardi Gras), Bart (ex Soul@Seven and Triple) and Stef. Rudi blended in quite naturally.
The common love for swing blues is what makes them stick together. The boys work hard to build a varied playlist, inspired by the originals like Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Little Walter, J.B. Lenoir, T-Bone Walker,... still with an open mind to contemporary influences from Gary Primich, Los Lobos,...
The recipe for "Waking up Dolores" is simple but tasty: put some drums, a bull fiddle, a guitar, a touch of piano and a lot of bluesharp into the shaker... and the result makes you swing as you drink it.
After some successful try-outs, the band produced its demo "the X-mas Sessions" in December 2004 as an entry to the real thing: the stage which seems their natural biotope. Dolores never knew what hit her, but they do: they call it the blues!

"Onlangs optreden in de Mechelse 'Friends' meegemaakt, niet echt de bluesstek in town (heeft Mechelen trouwens ook al niet...) maar je maakt er wel af en toe opgemerkte concertjes mee. Zo ook met 'Waking up Dolores' (ferme naam en nochtans geen vrouwmens te bespeuren bij dit zestal), dat ongecompliceerde shuffle, jump en jive brengt en waarbij vooral Luc (ex Mardi-Gras) zich laat opmerken op de bluesharp (maar toch even opletten, don't overdo this...). Ook Rudi aan de keyboards komt met momenten gevaarlijk aanrollen op het orgel en speelt met evenveel gemak de boogie-piano. Het aanwezige gelegenheidspubliek lustte er wel pap van en enthousiaste Wim aan vocals was best in z'n nopjes ! Wij hielden vooral van hun versie van 'Mojo Boogie' van J.B. Lenoir , de jaren 40-er Chicago bluesman waar John Mayall ook al z'n mosterd haalde." ( Jassepoes )
