American Draft

About Me

With a new album, "Hawk" (AVAILABLE NOW!), American Draft continue to bring new surprises to all who will listen. Over the last 9-plus years they have defied categorization with a simple devotion to melting of faces with strong quality-controlled rock music. Working on material for "Hawk" has brought their focus toward the instrumental-metal genre while creating a sound unique to that of their Chicago instru-metal brethren. For fans of The Fucking Champs, Frank Zappa, Mastodon and King Crimson.

Our music sounds good when John Wayne is involved:

Sounds Like: "I’m not certain that this local band, which includes members of Tongues and Volta do Mar, chose the name “American Draft” as a reference to military conscription—it could be about weak beer, I guess—but Hawk (Coachhouse Collective) smells like victory. It delivers a startling blast of instrumental indie prog-metal, full of the kind of joyous, orgasmic energy particular to tech geeks with access to powerful amps."
