Born in Warwickshire on November 8th 1986, Sean’s life had an unconventional start when he was adopted into a large family at the age of two. Self-taught on his new Mum’s second-hand piano as a young child, making music and performing was a constant and supporting feature of Sean’s early life.
College years allowed him to indulge his passion further and it was here that he started to consider the performance element of music as a credible vocation. It was during this time that he also started performing on the local club circuit and began to enter (and win) talent contents. After clinching the top spot at Rugby Youth Talent contest, he decided to take his vocal talent to a national audience and chanced his luck at the X Factor auditions in London, 2007. Fortune favours the brave and he eased through the rounds and beat over a quarter of a million applicants to the live finals as part of the band ‘Futurproof’, formed by Simon Cowell on the 2007 show.
Finally realising his childhood dream of performing in front of a national audience, the X Factor experience on TV and the ensuing 2008 UK arena tour (which took in 27 dates and venues such as the O2 Arena), gave Sean the taste of great things to come…
Having developed a four octave vocal range and a strong repertoire of material, Sean struck out on his own in May 2008. A return to solo performance has afforded him more control over his artistic direction and taken him far and wide. As well as playing at a number of charity fundraisers, he launched the Live Lounge at luxury boutique hotel, Captain’s Club, opened Harvey Nichols’ Fashion Show, made a guest appearance at The Taste of Birmingham Restaurant Awards and sang at top London club, Storm, in Leicester Square. He also accepted a rare invitation to perform in front of inmates at the Foreign National Female Prison.
With a solid performance portfolio under-pinned by undeniable passion, he has the vitality and energy to deliver performances that leave a lasting impression. Coupled with a richly-textured vocal style and heartfelt lyrics, Sean Rumsey’s unique sound really is smooth, sincere and soulful.....
