Granted there are supplements on the market for the particular ailments such as hip dysplasia, arthritis and dry skin available. However, if you are like most dog owners, you have tried to get your dogs to swallow these to no avail or poured it on their food only to have a nose turned up and a refusal to eat it. Therefore money wasted, and supplements and foods are not cheap!I have always agreed with the motto "You put Junk in, you get Junk out" meaning just that as humans if we consume a diet of fast food, snack cakes and soda pop, we get fatter and more lethargic and invite diseases like diabetes, cancer and the like. If we consume a decent diet, get some exercise we get energy, vigor and invite heath and well being. I know you have heard this before, but it is the same for your dogs. "You put junk in, you get junk out."I started working with recipes and began to see exceptional results in flavors and smells that the dogs really reacted to. Once I had the flavor perfected I started working on ingredients to address the common ailments of these dogs, primarily arthritis, hip dysplasia, soundness and sharpness of mind and memory, and of course the skin and coat especially for dogs who spend a lot of time in the water or sun. I used the advice of exceptional Sports medicine Veterinarians from Auburn and Cornell veterinary schools on ingredients and dosage amounts for the treats. After speaking with them, I decided to use Yucca root powder for joint and muscle health, Gingko leaves for sharpness of mind and memory and Canola Oil for skin and coat. I had originally thought to use Glucosamine for the joint and muscle issues but quickly found that some dogs can be allergic to it because of it being made from shellfish, and also as the treats went through the baking process 98% of the effectiveness was lost to the heat in the oven. The Yucca provides the same if not better effect on the joints and muscles and was more easily digested by the dogs because it is a natural plant based ingredient and would not lose its effective qualities during baking.About six months into the final stages of development of these treats I began to see dog foods and treats being recalled due to tainted ingredients and fillers being used. I decide then that I would not risk the lives of the dogs that these treats were being designed for, so I chose for my production to be done in a human food bakery and using only 100% human food grade ingredients. The treats are baked in a small commercial bakery outside of Chicago, Ill. They are baked exactly to my specifications and with only ingredients that are approved and meet the highest human quality standards. There are no fillers or additives ever used no artificial colors or flavors, no by-products of any kind, and no added preservatives. The treats have a natural shelf life of four months just from the natural preservatives that are in the canola oil used in the treats.I know many of you have spent thousands of dollars on purchasing and training these special athletes and many of you have a special pound mutt that you just want to keep happy and healthy. I hope I have helped you understand the nutritional needs of your dogs, and I guarantee they will enjoy this treat."Don’t feed your dog anything you wouldn’t feed your family"
