My name is Richard Chad Zumwalt. I’m 28 and born in Vancouver Washington on July 23, 1978. When I was 7 years old my family moved to a small town in Washington state named White Salmon, “Where to this day, I am still living,†it was a little sleepy town, or so everyone might have thought. Growing up I was always the kind of person that never believed in anything unless I saw it with my own eyes. What sparked my interest in the paranormal was when I was 16 years old I got my first job at the local grocery store, But the store did have a few unusual aspects about it, other then having really high prices on everything in the store, because they had the corner on the market! Being the only grocery store in town, it also was built on top of an old pioneer cemetery. Of course this was the perfect making for a ghost story. All my coworkers had stories of the boogie man doing a little shopping after hours, but we all know how being in a 100 year old building that was smack on top of a graveyard could very easily make one’s imagination run away. Well to make a long story short, I was the closing clerk and was locked inside the store alone from 11 pm till the freight crew arrived at 2 am to let me out. I witnessed a number of unexplained phenomena that could not be explained.
Everything from the sound of footsteps to objects moving on their own and even what appeared to be a female voice that spoke into my ear one night. I discovered that nearly everyone that had worked in that store had claimed to hear a woman’s voice. It was not the only time I heard the voice Needless to say since I was not on any mind altering drugs at the time, LOL, what I was experiencing, along with many of my coworkers was evidence leaning toward the fact that there is something out there that is supernatural. And that’s where the dilemma comes into play when trying to document paranormal phenomena. In the past those who have tried to study it have failed, simply because you have to go about it completely open minded the word supernatural means it’s something that happens in our world, based on science that should not happen. So when scientists try and study it, they can’t be open minded enough to pursue it past the point of modern science because according to our world it is phenomena that defy all the rules of science as we know it.
In the past my friends and I would go out to locations that had a reputation for being haunted but never documenting the phenomena we encountered. It was no more then a hobby. There were a few years that I stopped doing it. It was only when we started viewing the evidence that other ghost hunters had captured, that I made the decision to start hunting again! Because in my opinion, the evidence out there that was being captured was not all that good. In most of the evidence we looked over, the only thing being caught was their own over active imagination. So this time I’m going about it a little more serious. Within the last year we have captured and documented some of what could be considered the most shocking and controversial evidence regarding the paranormal and the existence of it. I know what you’re thinking; everyone out there these days claims they are ghost hunters, because of the Hollywood ghost hunters on T.V. My plans are to introduce a new personality to the field of Paranormal Research. One that is humorous but the real thing. There are so many teams out there that claim to try and debunk anything they encounter before claiming it as genuine evidence, but always let their personal opinion get in the way. The evidence we capture is raw and unhampered with. We collect it with the sole purpose of it perhaps helping to answer a few of mans age old questions? What really has been haunting the living throughout history, and to this day continues to keep us fearing the return of the dead? And what does really happen to us when we die, there has been a verity of activities reported and documented regarding the paranormal. The most common is that of the existence of both positive and negative spirits, a lot of teams believe in human and inhuman spirits. A lot of investigators during an investigation will ask the spirits personal questions about there past life, go as far as to bring in a medium to contact the other side.
My team has documented both types of phenomena positive and negative, my methods of conducting an investigation are different but at the same time very controversial. I have always believed that if you want to get a reaction out of anyone, is to taunt them!! LOL We don’t use EMF readers inferred cameras or any of the included 50,000$ worth of equipment. My team and I taunt the entities using no more then a sense of humor, and the guts to stick around and document what happens, Guts? Or not enough common sense to be scared? According to a lot of opinions out there, it’s lacking common sense. We have been banned from numerous paranormal chat forums for doing no more then giving our personal opinion and posting some of what we have captured on our investigations.
We have been labeled damaging to the field of paranormal research, and also labeled as a “conjure or someone who taunts the spirit realm†and my methods of conducting an investigating should be considered dangerous, at the same time my team has also received a large amount of positive response regarding our evidence. I have a little word of advice for all who claim to be ghost hunters if you fear what your hunting then you better get a different hobby. I have a lot of experience with haunting of all types. Even the most aggressive and terrifying. This is a fascinating field and there is a lot to learn from these Phantoms that in the minds of so many living today have faded into myth, but the Boogie Man does exist. So wish us luck!!!Chad Zumwalt
NWPH "We hunt what haunts you."MELANIE HERMAN: INVESTIGATOR/PUBLIC RELATIONS/CASE MANAGERFirst let me begin by saying hello, my name is Melanie Herman. I live in a small town in the state of Washington called White Salmon. And I am a Paranormal Investigator or as our team would rather refer to ourselves as "Ghost Hunters". The reason I say this is because we go out and intentionally look for paranormal activity. There are numerous groups that do not agree with the way that we conduct our hunts, but they don't have to!!
I guess I need to back up for a moment and explain how I got interested in this field. Well I had really never pondered over whether or not ghosts or entities existed. I really didn't have an opinion either way. Until I started dating a friend, Chad Zumwalt also the founder of our team, that I had known pretty much my entire life, He asked me one night if I had ever been on a Ghost Hunt, and I told him heck no, I had never even been in a cemetery after dark!! I always thought that I would be way too scared!! He talked me into going out and I thought Wow, this is kind of fun, but I didn't really think that there was any kind of paranormal activity going on. We just walked around this old Indian cemetery and took pictures with a 5 mega pixel digital camera. Then we went home to take a look and see how our pictures turned out!! I was so amazed by the mist and the hexagonal orbs that we had picked up. It just really surprised me to see these things in the pictures that I had taken because I did not see them while we were there!! That was all it took I was officially hooked on trying to go out and see what type of other activity we could capture!! And this is how our method of hunting came into development! LOL
Chad , being his not so patient self decided that He would investigate in his own way!! Most people would call it taunting, but I don't like to think of it as that, because all He is doing is whatever it takes to get a reaction. We have found that this works for us!! I personally think that it's more than likely because spirits and things of the paranormal realm seem to be attracted to Chad . I told him it must be that out-going personality and charm of his..LOL
Anyway, I am still a new comer to the paranormal field, but Chad has been doing it since he was about 16 years of age. He has really taught me a lot! And opened my eyes up to a whole new world that I would love to find out as much as I can!!
We don't use fancy equipment and the glamor of Hollywood or the tricks of cameras!! We would really actually like to see what is out there!! We conduct our investigations in a lot of cemeteries! We seem to pick up a lot of activity in the old abandoned ones around the area in which we live, but we would love to broaden the areas in which we seek out our paranormal activity! We prefer not to do personal in-home investigations, because we do taunt the entities in order to get a reaction and I'm sure you will agree with me when I say this, and most of the world has grown up being taught that you DO NOT do that!!
Our team is not like the rest of the so-called paranormal investigating teams out there. We seek out activity, but we do it in our own unique way. I do not recommend that other teams conduct their investigations like we do ours because there are still boundaries and rules that have to be followed in order to keep everyone safe. You have to know when it's time to back off and vacate the premises, another words, a person must learn to recognize the signs that they have pushed the limit as far as they can. Also there are rules that apply to how a person taunts a spirit or entity. It has to be done on a non-personal level, which means NO conjuring or inviting the spirit to join you. A person should not ask personal questions and try to befriend these Poltergeists you can never tell what you are really dealing with! It may be a human spirit which in my own opinion and from things that I have experienced I really don't think that it's our dead relatives hanging around! I mean if you stop and think about it for a second, our whole lives we have been taught that Heaven is this wondrous place, then honestly why would you want to hang around when you can finally enter the place that you have been striving for your whole life?Melanie Herman
NWPH, "We Hunt What Haunts You"BRADLY NIELSEN(BJ): INVESTIGATOR/DATA ANALYSTHi, I am Bradly Nielsen. I am one of the co founders of the Northwest Phantom Hunters. I have always been slightly intrigued by the thought of there being ghosts or spirits out there. I have always thought that there was something there but never knew what it was. But when I got older I started working in a local store that was built on an old cemetery. Now I didn’t think to much of it until I started working graveyard shift there. That’s when I started hearing voices coming from different parts of the store and hearing footsteps when there wasn’t anyone there. Now I worked with one of my friends, Chad, and started to talk to him about some of the stuff that was going on. We had both experienced that at the store and we started getting more in-depth with what it was. That’s when we first started going to different locations in our area that was supposed to be haunted. At first we were just doing it to check these places out. We brought other people with us on various hunts but never got to involved with what was going on.
Years later after I got out of the military, I got back in touch with Chad and that’s when we started to form the Northwest Phantom Hunters. With this new group we actually started documenting our hunts and seeing what kind of stuff we could capture with cameras and other stuff. We were very surprised at some of the stuff that we were finding so that’s when we started to talk to other paranormal groups around the world. We asked opinions about our findings and were always up for a little advice to help us out. Most of the help that we found was with doing our own research on the web though.
This is pretty much to the point of where we are now, but the biggest reason on why we do this now is more than just wondering about what is out there. It has a lot to do with letting people know that there is something there, this is what its capable of, and giving them an idea of what it might be.Bradly J. Nielsen
NWPH, "We Hunt What Haunts You"TODD SCHROEDER: INVESTIGATOR/DATA ANALYSTHi! My name is Todd Schroeder, I am a father of three and one of the founders of the Northwest Phantom Hunters Chad, BJ and I started "hunting" ghosts about 12 years ago just as something fun to do. About one and a half years ago we started doing it more seriously. We talked about it for about a week thinking of the pros and cons of this and decided to do it. I have had a long history with the paranormal and thought this would be something fun and interesting for me to do. We have had a lot of weird thing happen on our investigations. I don't claim to know everything about the "phenomenon" that we have captured, but I do know that we have some of the best stuff that you will ever see.I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read our Bios and to all those teams who do this seriously. And to those skeptics out there I challenge you to come out with us one time and you will see we don't fake our evidence nor dramatize it in any way. I live in a small town in Northwest Washington known as Carson. I met the Founder and Lead Investigator of the Northwest Phantom Hunters, Chad Zumwalt and his Fiancee, Melanie Herman, about 3 months ago. She is also an Investigator. I joined the team as an Investigator and an Evidence Analyzer. We have been on numerous Investigations and always seem to get some sort of activity. We DO NOT recommend that anyone conduct their Investigations in the manner that our team has chosen to. We have elected to use taunting as a tool to anger the Entity or Spirits that are out in this world and have found that this method seems to work well for us. We have documented countless amounts of evidence and will continue to do so in support that the Paranormal Realm is in existence. You may view our team's evidence at our website: http://www.vmueteam.comAs well as through Chad and Melanie's Myspace profiles:
