About Me

In the early hours of April 13, 1989….for the first time, the world heard the voice of who would come to be one of the premier artists to come from the heart of Philadelphia’s streets. In the halls of the University Of Pennsylvania Hospital’s Maternity ward…Syheed RaShaan Goodman was born to Shawna Goodman and Albert Ross, He spent much of his early years between the Germantown and South Philadelphia neighborhoods. This gave him the privilege of being exposed to everything the streets had to offer.Upon entering the Philadelphia public school district, he also took the front row seat in the classroom of the streets. Between fist fights and water fights he found something that would help him pass the time. Upon moving from the inner-city to the Philadelphia suburbs, at age 10, what would be a culture shock for most at this age was easy for Syheed. He took hip-hop with him as a means to help him remember where he came from. It was love at first listen when he heard the deep bass line and musical poetry of Will Smith’s record “Parents just don’t understand”. In homage, his first record was ironically titled “I’m just a kid”. Syheed always maintained a close relationship with his father who was always supportive of everything he did. But to see him take the initiative to embrace his inner artist instead of spending his time running the streets like most kids his age made him extra proud. But this relationship would encounter the test of time in January 2000, Albert passed. Though deeply affected by his father’s death, it motivated him to embrace his love for hip-hop. At 14, he was introduced to the business side of the rap industry. Despite having family members already established in the business, uncles; Lawrence and Dana Goodman professionally known as “LG” and cousins Joseph,Quran,Taje and Tarik Goodman of the rap group “Da Youngstas”, he grew anxious and decided to make moves on his own. Between school, homework and family time, he would travel from Philly to New York to learn from the best. He would spend time hanging out with members of major record labels with the many connects he gained through networking. At age 15, he began to build a name for himself in the underground rap scene by stepping out of the shadows of being another unknown artist to battle head to head with some of the city’s best. His nickname “Danger” was bestowed upon him by his barber, Jeff, who witnessed Syheed destroy 15 different local rapper in the barbershop within 4 hours without breaking a sweat or fumbling a line. It seemed as though he never stopped to take a breath. To gain experience and ammunition for rhymes, Syheed went throughout the city to any battle he could get his hands on. Though Syheed seemed to master the art of hardcore and battle rap, he enjoyed doing commercial music most because it appealed to the masses, not just one type genre. He founded MOSCA ™ with some of his childhood friends; it is an urban clothing line that appealed to the Philly pop fashion scene. MOSCA ™ eventually became an established brand throughout the city, which also helped expose his name to the streets. As he matured, he didn’t want to entertain an image that wasn’t him, so he wrote about what he knew best, Fashion. He then adopted the name “Sy of Mosca”. He decided that he would have to dig deeper if he wanted the recognition of being more than just another aspiring rapper. He began to do rap DVD’s and eventually would headline different shows. At 18, he released his single “Polo” out of his fondness for the brand. This single was followed by “Text me”, and ”College”. These songs were popular amongst the teens and even adults in the city. And once the songs hit Myspace, he began to be noticed by people all over the internet. In August 2008, Syheed enrolled in Cheyney University of Pennsylvania as business marketing major. In his producer Kyree “Gotti” Payne’s dorm room they came up with some of his best ideas for the hottest tracks which would appear on his mixtape titled “The Mannequin” inspired by his love for fashion. Though not signed to a major record label, Sy of Mosca stands to be a force to be reckoned with. Not only is he dedicated, humble and focused, Syheed has his own style, combined with the lyrical capability of a seasoned rapper; you would almost mistake him for a veteran in the game. All these aspects combined with his personality and willingness to grow as an artist makes him a marketable candidate for this business. However, upon further investigation, you find that he is more than what you would ever expect…his unique individuality will not let you forget that he is…Sy of Mosca.
