Wes Cyphers

Wes Cyphers is no stranger to the word adversity in any sense of the term. Growing up as the youngest sibling in a single mother home in Wilmington, NC there were very limited opportunities or outlets for him to express himself and be seen. However, at age 13, a close family friend who promoted for local music venues saw potential in the teenager's musical abilities and especially that he was able to rhyme also. Without hesitation, he entered Wes in local open mic nights where he displayed a charismatic passion for entertaining and a hunger to create new material. After being a consistent winner in local and regional battles from ages 15-18 and opening up for acts such as Common, G-Love & Special Sauce, Biz Markie, Talib Kweli, Pharoah Monch, MOP, and countless others, he thought his day had finally came. Being a regional winner in Def Jam Records/ Cumulus Broadcasting "Rep Your City", a radio contest where artist submitted songs and the listeners would vote for their favorite song for 4 weeks with a live performance with A&R's and radio personalities as judges to cap it off. Being offered a deal but with no guarantee of a release, Wes decided to turn it down and make a risky decision; head to LA and work with a few producers who were ready to start on a project immediately. After seeing very little accomplishment and barely a dollar to his name, he was introduced to another native North Carolina entertainer, Jive recording artist Petey Pablo. There he began recording and touring with Petey and also was able to form relationships with other artist and producers who would eventually end up working with him. Wes has worked with pop artist and producers such as Pretty Ricky, Nick and Aaron Carter, Notes (producer) and many others. His writing and musical abilities have enabled him to cross-over from a hip-hop artist to a fresh up-and-coming pop artist whose humble approachability mixed with his uncanny delivery and catchy true to life music allow him to bridge the gap and reach all music listeners of any niche market.
