About Me

Rebel Lion born in Port-au-Prince, Haïti on august 15, 1978. At early ages my interest for music was very vivid, running around the neighborhood with freinds singing all the popular songs of that time. I ended up travelling to the U.S, where i spent the rest of my chilhood in Queens N.Y. Going to elementary school i was always buying the latest Hip Hop and Ragamuffin audio cassettes and, by the time i reached Junior High school i strarted to write my own lyrics singing Raga in Kreyol because of my Haitian pride. Eventually, i met a brethren name Nubian(Terry Rabel). Together we were always in the hood of Queens beating on restaurant tables, b-boxing on the streets and chanting, all that led to some performances at parties singing on riddims. After high school i came back to Haïti to join my family, there i learned to play the rhythm guitar than i joined a group called O.D.D(Organize Divine Disciples) where i got involve in Hip Hop, reggae and accappella as one of the singers. In 1998 we recorded our first single ( Jouk Kilè) and released a video clip under group therapy. Unfortunately O.D.D did not resist do to the migration of certain members. I kept pursuing my musical goal as a solo artist, and a year later i met up once more with Nubian, this time in Haïti. Together we came up with the idea YIZRA'EL, a full reggae band with me and him as lead singers. Due to musicians instability and Nubian going back to the U.S, YIZRA'EL had to close up shop for three years and during that time, i featured on projects of "Lame Ti Nèg" of Eazy-one specially ( mise en scène). After some time a freinds introduced me to two cousins, Zikiki( St.Eloi Duckyns) and Twins(Hilaire Evens), which i later title: The spinal cord ofYIZRA'EL. Zikiki, Twins An I compromised to come back with YIZRA'EL, with me as lead vox and rhythm guitarist, Zikiki on drum and chorus, Twins on bass. With the support and strenght of so many musicians that comes and goes, today we stand as 7 musicians in total, and we've played around the country for the peasants, the children, the elders the opressed and also for our neighbors in Dominican Republic. My beleif is that i've been blessed by the higher force to accomplish out a mission upon this earth. To me music should be conscious, uplifting, enlighten and remedious to the ears of the people, that's why i chose the reggea path as a vehicule to transmit the message of love, supreme peace, harmony, justice and equality through out the universe. I am for the betterment of humanity on a holistic level, and my objective is to promote the oneness of all people no matter religion, color or greed through my lyrics and the power of sound that comes forth from different heights and eventually leading one to be ALL AND ONE TO BE ALL . I and I is troding forth with the one DIVINE, one Aim and one destiny ideology, for in oneness everyone and everything resides and originated. The one Black Dot. Oneness Rules all.
