About Me

Hi, I'm Kendra, but most people call me Ken. I live in Maine and grew up in Maine, but spent a couple years in other places on the eastern seaboard over the years. I went to college for fashion design, but don't work in that field professionally as I am disabled.

I do make clothes for myself, both for everyday wear and for SCA events. If you don't know, the SCA is the Society for Creative Anachronisms. It's basically medieval re-enactment. It's a lot of fun and a great way to dress up in interesting clothes and get away from the world. I have learned so much about so many interesting things. Every summer I go to the Great Northeastern War, it's always a wild weekend. As of this summer I’m learning the crossbow. I went to a practice semi-locally and am in the process of getting things together to make my own crossbow so I can get out in the yard and practice everyday - weather permitting. I don’t get to the shooting range and the crossbow is giving me the shooting thrill I crave. Can’t wait to have my own and practice up for events!

About me everyday? I spend a lot of my time writing. I write young adult fiction with a horror bent to it and adult romance. I also write weekly reports for a couple of websites www.rajah.com and www.wrestlingnewsworld.com . I write a play by play and review of WWE RAW on Monday nights for both sites. I also write a Blog about TNA Impact for WNW everything Thursday. I also write a month Prediction Blog for the TNA PPVs. Hey, it doesn't pay much, but it looks good on my writing resume. I don't claim to be great, but it keeps me busy since I can't work and I love doing it!

Every November I am involved in NaNoWriMo. It's an online challenge to write a 50K word novel in 30 days. '09 will be my seventh year doing it and I have finish more than 50K words each of the previous six years. This year will be my fifth year as a NaNo Municipal Liaison. Basically it's like trying to herd cats. I get as many of the local nano writers together for parties, hand holding, write-ins, therapy sessions and celebrations. If you write at all please check out www.nanowrimo.org We love gathering more crazy writers into our groups. If you’re interested you don’t have to wait until November to meet up with us. Every Sunday a group of us get together at Panera in Westbrook to hang out and write. We’re normally in the back corner. On Wednesdays another group of us get together at the Panera in Augusta! There’s less of us on Wednesdays, but we’d still love new people to join us. Look for my wild pink and green LL Bean backpack and the bright pink stripe in the front of my hair! Usually there’s a guy with a yamulka in our group too. We’re hard to miss and would love to meet new writers!

Well my shaved hair is growing back again. While I loved all the little kids running around GNEW 2006 looking for the exploded Furby (my hair was pink when we shave it in the middle of the SCA event), I doubt I'll be drastically cutting it any time soon. I'm really glad I had both a mohawk and shaved my head, but now I'm really wanting my hair back. I got hot this past summer and wanted to shave it again, but I managed to make it through without resorting to the clippers. It's growing out, but I still have a long chunk in the front that was part of my mohawk - It's hot pink. It's actually on my shoulders now and almost long enough to do the fun things I enjoy doing such as my braided pigtails and my high Princess Leya buns!

And now for something completely different. I have Crohn's Disease. I'm always interested in talking to others who have it. I was diagnosed about 28 years ago and am willing to answer questions from people who are newly diagnosed. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

I spent many years with a wonderful Hemmingway cat - Kapok - that I fell in love with when I was 22. Mid-June he was taken from me with a huge tumor on his liver. I miss him dearly and am shocked daily when I realize he’s no longer with me. It about crushes my heart everyday to think I will never hear his scream or see the love in his eyes. I miss him with every fiber of my being and no one will ever take his place. I’d do about anything to have him back with me. I do have to say at least he went quickly and didn’t suffer. I loved him with everything I had and miss him terribly. I am still in mourning over his loss and am crying as I write this. He touched so many and was loved so much. I can’t fathom ever being loved as strongly by another critter as I was by him. He was the center of my world for just over 13 years and I am crushed than he won’t be with me for another 13. My heart hurts.

I live with my boyfriend and his three kids that he has 99% custody of. The boys (2) are teenagers and the little girl is 5. If that's not enough to make a household crazy enough, there's three cats, a dog, a puppy and six rats. Piggey's a beautiful white cat with grey swirls on her head and the last half of her tail. She's none too bright. Most of the time she's extremely sweet, but sometimes that one insane braincell kicks in and she goes crazy - claws and teeth out - for no apparent reason. Jules Verne is just over a year old. He's a long haired orange fuzz ball with huge hands and feet. He isn't completely double pawed, but he does have extra fingers and toes. He's our little home improvement specialist. Whenever we're doing anything around the house, he has to inspect and be involved. He's so inquisitive about how things are built and what you're doing to things. Twiddles, formally known as Twilight, is just under a year old. He was born the middle of August and brought to us unannounced by the middle child. He was upset and brought home a kitten. We were not thrilled, but it was a blessing in disguise. He's become bast friends with Jules and they play constantly. Twiddles has really given Jules something to do and a lot of fun. They're always playing hard and enjoying each other. Brady is the dog and what a big dog he is. He's 92lbs of neurotic Briard. He's a pure bred dog, but as he does not get along with other dogs he could not be bred and showing was hard. He did win a couple of awards when he was young, but his attitude made it so the breeders/showers could not keep him. He came to live with the family I now call my own. While he's a sweet loveable lump, he really is an emotional mess. He's afraid of the oven, the Dremmel, the drill, bells other than the ones on the cats' collars, the vacuum and anything that clicks or beeps. He is a total spaz. When he's not freaking out he tries to herd you. As long as you push back and don't let him push you into a corner or onto the sofa, you're fine. If you let him herd you once, he will constantly do it. The first time I met him I pushed back and have had very little trouble since. Last Thanksgiving Stacy’s father saw something odd in their yard. It turned out to be a domestic rat. Around Christmas he moved into their basement and thwarted all their tries to catch him. Finally he was captured in the Have-A-Heart trap as he came up the steps to the main part of the house. I had just bought three female rats, so we added the will boy into the household, but not in with the ladies (Michelle, Rosie and Guatamala). We were worried that Rodrigo might be a bit too wild, but he’s the cuddliest and most mellow male rattie I have known. He’s a lover, but has a bit of wanderlust. We got him two baby boys to live with, but it didn’t work out. So while the ladies live together, Rodrigo, Zeno and Keef all live alone in different homes. I have never known ratties who’d rather be alone, but the three of them enjoy it. After the horrible loss of my Kapok, Stacy’s mother thought I needed something to keep me busy. So she got me a maltipoo puppy. I’ve never had a puppy before and have now realized, after about four weeks, that I really have my hands full. Puff The Magic Dragonese is one wild pup! He went to his first GNEW and was the hit of the event. Everyone fell in love with him and he did great! I have so much to learn about puppies and how to train him, but Dragon is quite the sweetheart - when he’s not teething on my arm or pulling something out from under the bed that he shouldn’t be chewing on! He’s also growing in a phenomenal way! The breeder expected him to be about 10lbs full grown, but I expect much more. He’s the monster of the litter - size wise. He’s only 12 weeks now and weighs about 6lbs! Any ideas on training would be greatly appreciated!
- I try to live by a rule I made for myself many years ago...

Never regret the things you've done, only the things you've dared not do.

- It's hard to do sometimes, but it helps me keep some perspective on life and reminds me to live my life to it's fullest.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable.

...There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

My estranged husband in divorce court. I was served with papers, my lawyer responded, but he never responded to my lawyer from there. It seems as though he got a divorce in absentia. The thing is that it isn't legal as I did respond. I'm trying to get copies of the divorce decree so I can follow up from there. If things are as I expect, it's not legal and he's a bigamist.

I'd love to meet a few people who are dead - Dorothy Parker, Eleanor Roosevelt and both of my grandfathers and my great grandmother Rachael. I'd also like to meet certain fashion designers, most pro wrestlers working today and some from the past.

If you want to be my friend and I don't already know you, please send me an email so I can find out who you are and what you're about. Otherwise I will not respond. I hate to have to do this, but I'm getting a lot of requests from people who just want to build their numbers or are not interested in getting to know me. So please, think about it first, and send me an email if you are someone I don't already know.
