An edited wikipedia entry.also: Carp, native to Eurasia, were introduced into North America to great fanfare. There was substantial favorable publicity and carp were widely introduced throughout the United States.

Results of the introduction of this exotic species seemed at first promising as carp readily adapted to their new environment, spreading rapidly. Tales of carp muddying waters are true.

Today carp is treated as trash. Cleaning carp can only be accomplished by poisoning everything and then later re-introducing something more desirable.

The real issue however is that carp are survivors and thus can live in the badly polluted (by man) waters all over the country.
