About Me

**FOR SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY CLICK "PICS"**There are those who operate in the higher echelons of the music industry, and then there is Earl Cohen. A recording and mixing engineer of the highest calibre, Cohen has worked with a veritable "who's who" of today's top artists while selling over 60 million albums worldwide. Cohen's credits include: Aya Peard, Lady Ga Ga, Pink,Tina Turner, Usher, Destiny's Child, Joe, Anita Baker, Will Smith, Jessica Simpson, Cyndi Lauper, Nelly, Michael Bolton, and international acts Lighthouse Family (England) and Kaylan (Australia). Cohen's story begins in 1973, where upon graduating he began mixing live rock bands in his native Connecticut and touring all over New England. Even at an early age cohen's listening tastes were expansive: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Genesis, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations et al, all helped to shape and define Cohen's listening spectrum. Cohen began his career in audio engineering in 1980, while working at a studio in Connecticut and doing live sound that eventually led to work throughout the early 80's with various rock bands. In the late 80's Cohen recieved a call from a friend to work with R&B singer Johnny Kemp. The project lasted 6 months, resulting in Kemp's 1 hit "Just Got Paid," which stayed at the top of the dance charts for 8 weeks. This was Cohen's first gold single and 1 smash hit, and subsequently many other R&B producers began calling on Cohen.Cohen scored another R&B hit with Atlantic Starr's "My First Love." Cohen then worked for 6 years recording and mixing artists for producer Barry Eastmond, resulting in more top 10 hit records for the likes of Jeffrey Osbourne, Freddy Jackson and a Grammy award for Anita Bakers, "I Apologize." Cohen then met producer Joshua Thompson, leading to work with Joe and mixing what would become the smash hit "All the things your man won't do." Around this time Cohen had also worked on records by Usher, Tina Turner and Olivia. And then moved on to record Destiny's Child smash 1 "Bootylicious" along with acts, Will Smith, O town, Kelly Rowland, and Jessica Simpson. By the year 2000, Cohen was eager to get back to his rock and roll roots, taking on producing, mixing and recording more up and coming rock bands. As of 2007 Cohen has mixed projects which are signed and slated for release in 2008. Cohen says "now i'm just looking for all sorts of acts to work with. I love the emotion and sonic development of giving a band or artist their sound and identity." real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
