About Me
Greetings everyone. My name is Chance Gray. I am from the small town of Fyffe, Alabama in DeKalb county. I am a recent graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in journalism. I have recently developed an idea to create my own magazine about all the great music, past and present, of Alabama. The problem is that currently I do not possess the funds to do so and I am trying to research and find out how many people are interested in this idea via myspace. It has come to my attention that through the internet and various other types of media, bands are now being able to market themselves without the help of crooked record companies. It is predicted that within 5 to 10 years only the strongest record companies will still exist. This is great news for people creating and performing their own music. I also know that here in Alabama there has been and still is an abundance of talent. The only problem is that no one knows about it. Radio stations only play top 40 and only the pretty boys who are marketable make it to the big time. As a singer/songwriter from Alabama myself, I know how tough the music business is, and I want to do something to help that. My mission is to create a fraternity of musicians all across the great state of Alabama and provide an outlet for these musicians to be publicized throughout the state. I want to cater to all genres of music. I believe that my idea will be great for getting "your" name out there and people all over the state will be able to learn about "you" and experience your music. It will also bring a sense of pride to our state. I want to cover, photograph and write stories about singers, songwriters, bands, bars, large venues, recording studios, music festivals and anything to do with "original" music in Alabama. I want to include facts about the history of Alabama music, things that most people might not know about otherwise. I want to distribute the publication across the state, giving ultimate publicity for the people and places covered. I need your help to get this thing started. If you are interested in this idea and think it will work to better serve the musicians of Alabama then your help will be greatly appreciated. I am having to do this research so I can present my idea to an investor and get this publication started. If you are interested please add me as a friend and let me know if you would read a magazine of this nature. The more support I receive, the sooner everything will take place. I urge you to think about the idea and tell your friends, family, anyone interested in reading about the music of Alabama, and other musicians about this. Word of mouth is the best advertising. This could be a great thing for everyone and I want to make it happen.
