THE BLUES FAIRY-TALE
by Robert Cross
1. In a little old town inside the green fairyland of "Bluenotes County", there was a beautiful girl with a passion for fairytales.
She had a charming glow in her eyes, which glistened with gold when someone began telling the usual... "Once upon a time...".
The old town's inhabitants were called "the blues", and that was the arcane reason for which she had been nicknamed… the “blues fairytale".
She would remember when her father sat beside her bed on cold winter nights, just talking about ancient times, with their foggy atmospheres and gloomy old castles, armoured knights upon white horses standing up for justice and boasting of their courage with no fear for death.
She would remember many other characters bred by her father's creativity before falling asleep but, above all, she loved her dream about the handsome prince she was going to meet at her eighteenth birthday party, just at midnight, when adulthood is looming...
She usually fell asleep by diving into this ocean of emotions, dreaming of that prince as if entering a world of secret fantasies.
Some years later, she realized her dreams were miles away from reality, and her bold prince just a deceitful product of her mind.
Until... it happened.2. In another fairyland called "Old rock County", there was a handsome boy with a passion for adventure.
He would fancy himself as the prince of his Country, while crossing woods and climbing up hills or steep mountains, riding horses and swimming across rivers, coping with monsters and dragons, facing cruel battles and eventually, when he came back home, winning the kiss of a princess as an award.
That is why he had been nicknamed… the “prince of rock".
When he grew, he realized that life has its own monsters and dragons to cope with, and he gave up dreaming.
Until... it happened. So the story goes…3. Once upon a time, somewhere in the fairylands, the “blues fairytale†met the “prince of rockâ€.
They fell in love, melting their own dreams into the real picture. Monsters and dragons had faded away. They never feared the challenges of life, because every challenge found them together to face it. They were each other’s blade, which no foe could ever defeat.
They met their common destiny, and destiny rewarded them with a baby.
When their daughter was born, a new kind of music sprang all around the fairylands, filling them up with happiness. Everybody started playing guitars, pianos and keyboards, beating on drums and singing new songs.
In homage to the new parents, some songs were called "blues", as they were charming like the “blues fairy-tale"; others were given the name "rock", being so strong like the “prince of rock".
That is why that baby was nicknamed the “fairyland’s music", and that new kind of music still reminds people of both the magic of fairytales and the lure of adventure. An unforgettable music, destined for never ending emotions…Rock&Blues was born.
