Although the edit is still being fine-tuned, our short film "Storm at a Distance" has already been submitted to several film festivals. "SaaD" stars Percy Metcalf & M. J. Losavio and also features Katherine Mapother & Shawn Taiwone Francis. Logline: In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, a preacher battles his pride and his wife over whether to contact his estranged son -- an aspiring jazz trumpet player who recently moved to New Orleans. This flick was written & directed by Stephen W. Brown & shot by Chris Witzke. The jazzy score (and closing credit song) was masterfully performed by: Ansyn Banks, Harry Pickens, Tyrone Wheeler, and Jason Tiemann. Meanwhile, Dionisio Ceballos' short "At the End of the Day" (which yours truly co-wrote) continues its trek around the festival circuit. Most recent screenings were as official selections in the Morelia (Mexico) & Los Angeles Latino international film festivals. Dionisio (who was the chief artist on the Miramax flick "Frida") premiered his movie @ the Miami Int. Film Festival last spring. The film also screened @ the Atlanta Film Fest., Cine-fest (Louisville), and the Cannes Short Film Corner.
And finally, Morris Shaw's feature film "Edgar Allen Poe's Dreamland" seems to be emerging from post-production purgatory. Speaking for myself (as composer & Monsieur Shaw's production collaborator), I'm most anxious to score this contemporary adaptation of 3 classic Poe tales. The rough cut looks tres cool...
