Sunshine Foundation Fundraiser 18th October 2008!

MyGen Profile GeneratorThe Sunshine Foundation was set up in 2004 to support the St Andrew's School for Special Education in Grenville, St Andrew's, Grenada.Our Aim is to raise funds and collect donations of educational materials and furnishings for the school, which receives very little by the way of Government funding and so relies heavily on donations from the local businesses and the generosity of visitors to The Island.The school has approximatley 66 pupils between the ages of 2-21 years,with a range of disabilities, including Autism, Downs Syndrome, Cerebal Palsy and the hearing impaired. .. Progress So Far To date we have been able to provide St Andrew's School for Special Education with books (their entire library was destroyed duirng hurricane Ivan in 2004), toys games and writing materials. We are also funding the cookery programme which had ceased due to lack of fund. More recently we have provided computers with printers, scanners, wheel chairs, walking frames, a TV and DVD player, video player and videos, and bed linen. these items were donated to us as part of our fund raising programme. Our support for the school has been welcomed and endorsed by the Chief Education Officer form the Ministry of Education in Grenada. We continue to work in partnership with the board of Governors and the Head Teacher, who works tirelessly to raise awareness and support for the school both at home and abroad. We have just sponsored a family with special needs by helping with the provision of electricity. We have also networked with the Grenada, Carriacou and Pettie Martinique Spiritual Foundation in identifying under priverleged and families who require Special assistance...
