I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

living in a house in the western suburbs, Naperville to be exact. Mostly because it's as far from Skokie as one can get. ;)I left the corporate world in July and I am now a self-employed, full-time bona fide PHOTOGRAPHER!!!I'm kind of confused on how I am even busier now then I was while growing our business and working for the man. Maybe b/c I almost doubled the photo workload?I have my own photography business, www.rachaelsilvers.com and I primarily photograph weddings in a more journalistic/candid style. I also do my fair share of portrait work and I have a few new corporate accounts and the lisy is growing.Hubby has a video production company, www.metfilms.com and he is also a graphic designer/web designer/IT consultant. Me thinks we make a fab team! We're working on some rebranding and a new website now, so stay tuned for details!

My Interests

Anything outdoors as in biking, jogging, kayaking, camping, skiing, bonfires etc.Lotsa stuff indoors as in movies, parties, shopping, drinking etc.Photography, duh!Victor, DUH!Friends :)Books.Music.Sleep, when I can fit it into my schedule.

I'd like to meet:

More people!!!! Friends I may have lost touch with. Other folks in the photo and wedding industry. If I don't know you and you want to add me to your friends list, drop me a line introducing yourself. I am not into the folks who are trying to add hundreds of folks to their friends list and just trolling and sending tons of friend requests.

Music:

All kinds. Except Opera. I love anything thumpin' that I can jam to in the car, especially to and from appointments and definitely after shooting a 10-hour day, a la Missing remix by Everything But the Girl, ANYTHING by Peter Haze, GOB, Gwen Stefani. I go through a country phase every now and then, think Dixie Chicks, Rascal Flatts, Big and Rich, and local gal Dayna Malow (hey there!). Oh and don't forget my whiny bictch phase, i.e. Alanis, Shawn Colvin, Sarah McLachlin. And I want to be Sheryl Crow :) I also like the compilation CD's that I pick up from cool people's weddings, cool people with a more discerning taste in music. Right now, I cannot get enough of Blowers Daughter by Damien Rice - mmmmm, so pretty.

Movies:

LOVE movies.

Television:

Reality. Makes my life look so easy.

Books:

I could take books over TV anyday! My darling Liz just gave me an awesome book called Chicago Haunts, published by a small Chicago co. where she works. I cannot wait to dive in. I love fiction/novels but they have to have a great plots and creative style. I also like historic and random stuff. I'll list some titles later.Just read Memoirs of a Geisha. I really liked it, but I think the end came and went a little to quickly, as if the author just wanted to get it finished. Excited to see the movie. Now I am working on A Million Little Pieces by James Frey, about his 6 weeks in alcohol and substance abuse treatment after a very near death binge. Opinion to follow when I finish.
