Dedicating themselves to their own interpretation of American folk and country songs, the traditional brazilian vocal group OLD FRONTIER differs from popular country-rock. OLD FRONTIER, today consisting of UDO (guitar, 5-string banjo, vocals), EDDA (12-string guitar, vocals) and DANIEL (acoustic guitar, bass, vocals), has its origin in a boarding school in a small town called Rio Claro, upstate Sao Paulo. In 1958 a group of students founded “Assassinos do RÃtmo†mainly performing regional brazilian folk songs. In 1960, back in Sao Paulo City, “Assassinos do RÃtmo†changed their name to “RHYTHM KILLERSâ€, now adopting the American folk style and celebrating success by performing at various tv shows. Apart from these performances, they recorded their first single in 1964, containing “Greenback Dollar†(A-Side) and “Tom Dooley†(B-Side). After a long break (1966 – 1978), the band returns as OLD FRONTIER, performing at some of the most popular bars of Sao Paulo, all kinds of events all over the country and various radio stations. Despite many changes throughout the past 30 years, OLD FRONTIER is still performing and considered one of the best folk and country bands in Brazil.
