Sotiris Papatragiannis was born at the 26th of November of 1977, and since his early years, he was enchanted by the “rebetiko” music. He attended drawing lessons at the “Plaka” school (1 year), at the workshop of Tasos Rigas (1 year) and he graduated from the Spyros Ornerakis’ school of comics (3 years). He worked for some years as an illustrator for books, magazines and newspapers. About his musical career: He is a self-taught musician. At the age of 15, he started singing and playing the guitar and a few years later he started playing the baglama. Since 1997 he is working alone or with various bands, in many music halls and night clubs of Athens, and also at many concerts throughout Greece. He was in charge of the music program of the rebetiko music hall “Misirlou” for two seasons (2005/06-2006/07). He has by now worked with some of the most important people of the “rebetiko”, like: Spyros Liosis, Kostas Kaldaras, Agathonas Iakovidis, Giorgos Xindaris, Michalis Zampetas, Spyros Polykandriotis, Lela Papadopoulou, Nikolas Syros, Hara Pomoni, Thymios Stouraitis, Antonis Ainitis, Sofia Emfietzi, Kostas Zaridakis, Marios Kostoglou, Marios Papadeas, Giannis Papavasiliou (Vlahos), Anthoula Mihou, Vasilis Giannisis and many others, as well as with the “shadow theatre” players Thanasis Spyropoulos and his son, Kostas, for a number of common appearances. Finally he participated at the last two CDs, of the Greek-Indian-Rembetis Nikos Veropoulos (White Feather), by the titles: “Ksenon-doheio” and “To avgo tou Kolombou”. Also at the upcoming CDs of Katerina Tsiridou - "Kismet" and Dora Protopapa - "Planitis Ellas". He is currently singing "rebetika" at "Athineissa" (ex "Aptalico") - Ironda 8, Pagrati, Kallimarmaro Stadium, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday with: Giorgos Xindaris, Katerina Tsiridou, Dimitris Kranidas, Sofia Emfietzi, Nikos Protopapas, Giorgos Anagnostou, Alekos Varanakis and Andonis Xindaris.
