She was born in a small town in Scotland which is the setting of her first memoirs '1979: A Big Year in a Small Town'. She first entered the stand-up comedy circuit winning 'So you think you're funny?' in 1992, and in 1995 she started presenting GayTime TV on BBC2 (for four series), whilst continuing to build up her stand-up reputation, appearing, amongst others, at the Edinborough Show; on the West End; and making numerous TV appearances. Rhona wrote and starred in her own BBC2 sitcom 'Rhona' in 2000, and has made a name for herself with numerous stand-up tours, notably in 2003 with this sell-out being made into the basis for a DVD. Recently Rhona has published two top-selling books; in 2007 she published 'The Naked Drinking Club' a loosley autobiographical novel about a search for a parent and a purpose in Australia whilst living a life of riotous excess. This was preceded by her debut novel '1979: A big year in a small town' (2003); which is a poignant memoir of the year, focusing on Rhona's experiences aged thirteen, growing up in a small town, coming to terms with and learning about life, losses, obsessions and sexuality. Rhona is a familiar face on television, hosting gameshow Russian Roulette (2002), appearing on shows such as Loose Women, Have I got News for You? and Comedy Nation to name but a few. She also appeared on the first series of 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' back when it was cool!
