ZOLA MOON

About Me

Zola Moon is the powerhouse and the queen of present-day Americana-roots-music and blues/blues-rock. Her no-holds-barred, incendiary live performances are renowned. She is a prolific songwriter and her CDs are made up almost wholly of her own original compositions. Her song writing and singing have received rave reviews from magazines, newspapers, radio DJs, and web sites around the world. Many critics and reviewers have likened Zola's passion, power, and intensity to that of Janis Joplin a great many times. Both the Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Daily News have called Zola "the South Bay Legend" and the Los Angeles Weekly has called her "one of the Southland's best-kept musical secrets".+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++Singer/songwriter Zola Moon was born in San Jose, CA., but her fierce intensity and powerful vocals might lead listeners to guess that she was raised someplace like Chicago or New York on the grounds that those are locales more thought of for producing artists of her depth and passion. She is self-taught, though she does acknowledge numerous musical influences, ranging from B.B. King and Muddy Waters to Jim Morrison and Led Zeppelin. Integrating those influences and many others, Zola Moon has, nonetheless, worked hard to keep her sound all her own. She began her career about 1983 in the San Francisco area. After 7 years of performing, which helped her grow a large fan base, she released a debut album in 1990. Titled "Dangerous Love", it was recorded on the Bare Moon Records label. Five years later and on a new label, the legendary Kent Records, she released "Lost In The Blues". It was followed in 1998 by "Almost Crazy" and then in 2000, "Earthquakes, Thunder and Smiling Lightning". 2002 brought "Down To My Bones" and in 2003 she released "Tales Of Love And Desperation". She has just come out with her seventh release, "Wildcats Under My Skin". +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Zola has appeared and performed with Albert Collins, Etta James, Linda Hopkins, Albert King, Big Mama Thornton, Al Kooper, and Eric Burdon, among others, and has appeared and been interviewed on the House of Blues Radio Hour. Her recordings of her own original songs can be heard in the soundtracks of a number of movies. Zola Moon is one of the very few roots artists to have ever been asked to perform at the Playboy Jazz Festival (where her reception by the crowd was nothing short of phenomenal). +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ All Zola Moon CDs and MP3s are available on the Zola Moon web site and on cdbaby.com -- http://www.cdbaby.com. The NEW Zola Moon CD, "Wildcats Under My Skin", is now available. All Zola Moon CDs and songs are also available for download on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and many other web sites. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHECK OUT the Zola Moon videos.
