About Me

ANDREA MELTON - Award Winning Filmmaker (producer/director/writer) founded Winterscope Pictures in 2006. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University before heading to Los Angeles. She began her Hollywood training by studying acting at The Loft Studio in Hollywood under the tutelage of Stephanie Feury, daughter of legendary acting teachers Peggy Feury and William Traylor. In those 4 years she also formed her directorial skills by learning firsthand how to breakdown scripts and pull performances from actors.Consumed by all aspects of filmmaking she dove into her first production, “TIME”, a 35 mm short film she co- wrote, directed, starred in as well as produced. This accomplishment presented her with the opportunity to shadow “Y Tu Mama Tambien” director Alfonso Cuaron in London during the filming of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.” This experience was an invaluable source of her education. Since then she has penned several scripts and over the past three years has produced several independent feature films. In early 2006, Andrea co-produced a short film featuring the renowned actress Penny Marshall. Later that year, she co-produced her first feature film titled “Nine is Mine” starring actor Jeremy London. This film was followed by the movie “Drifter” which was executive produced by John Daly, who executive produced such great films as “The Terminator” and “Platoon.” During the filming of “Drifter” Andrea experienced the challenges involved in putting together a traveling production. This film was shot in some of the most beautiful, but logistically difficult locations. Often battling 115 degree temperatures, she had a substantial role in helping to bring this stunning film to screen. “Drifter” lead Andrea to her third feature film in just two years, the Lions Gate released film “Brutal”, which she co-produced.In 2007, she traveled to the Philippines to produce her first overseas production. The internationally produced film “Foreign Policy” stars six-time world champion fighter Michel Laurin along side “Beowulf” and “Star-Trek Enterprise” actor, Dominic Keating. In 2008 at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, Andrea Melton won the award for Best Female Performance for her role in the movie “TIME” which she also co-wrote, directed and produced. “TIME” received distribution and is available on Amazon, Video on Demand, Tivo and in Kiosks across the U.S. That same year Andrea directed the music video “Paperthin” for artist Deborah Anderson, established photographer, talented singer/songwriter and daughter to Jon Anderson, legendary rock vocalist of the band YES. The sensual black and white music video, echoes the vintage erotica feel of Anderson's photography, which has been likened to that of Helmut Newton by the LA Times. The music video produced by Winterscope Pictures is debuting on iTunes in March 2009 and was recently selected to be featured on the Apple.com site as one of the Top 21 videos of the week.Andrea has experience in all aspects of film from script to screen to even editing this girl does it all.Credits listed at www.imdb.com and are currently being updated. -Please visit www.winterscopepictures.com
